Telkom's shaping rules have gotten out of hand now.

2 months ago i was at a friend in Stellenbosch. His line is perfect for browsing, but whenever he tries to download executable files, it doesn't work. It either just says "starting..."(Firefox) or it downloads to 98% (with download manager).
Calling telkom/webafrica doesn't help because according to them everything is fine. router switching made no difference. using IS and SAIX made no difference.

It should be noted these files are downloading from microsoft.com or ftp.is.co.za etc.

And then. out of the blue. My 4mb line also started doing the same (in Stellenbosch aswell). Now both of us have broken lines.

And nobody is to blame...

HELP!!

Nope,still downloading fine,tho admittedly i'm not in stellies :>

Im with webafrica and im having no problems on my side...

Could be the firewall/antivirus software or the OS thats causing that

Anyone else having the issue around there? Are you using the same Anti Virus?

Maybe look at your AV like RedhotNeo said

This. iz. WINDOEZ!

Have you noticed how WINDOEZ is warning you whenever you do anything with a file downloaded form the internet?

Ever wonder how they know that you got it off the internet?

Anyways .. it's windoze, or it's the place you're downloading from. Your ISP has absolutely no incentive whatsoever to prevent you from downloading EXE's.
