adsl router to adsl router

I have my ADSL router in the study and was having issues getting wireless signal from that router to my smart TV in the lounge. So i decided to run a lan cable from the router in the study to the TVlan port in the lounge and great it works. Started me thinking.....can i put another router on the end of that lan cable ,connect the TV to the router ,Enable the wireless on the lounge router to extend my wireless range in the lounge? Can both routers have wireless enabled or must the wireless in the study be disabled ? Any suggestions greatly appreciated!! Hope ive described it correctly

Yes, both routers can have wireless enabled. Just make sure that only one of them has a DHCP server enabled otherwise it's not going to work.

Just connect them up with cables like you plan to, give them each a unique IP and then set them up using the same wifi settings.

Use our friend, mr google. I found several how to do it there and my friend at work use it like that.

I do it thusly:

Configure second router by changing IP address to within the range of the first router's DHCP server (check that it's not in use and not assigned statically), then switch off the DHCP server of the second router.

Plug them together, and voila, network extended...

You can use the same, just use different wifi channels.

You don't specifically need another adsl router, unless you have one lying around.

You can purchase an access point which is generally cheaper.

If you haven't already got the second adsl router, I'd say get a proper wireless access point rather. Might work out cheaper
