ADSL shared with neighbour - pls help me

I am moving to a new suburb (not on the Telkom list of suburbs and I have been told by Telkom that it doesnt exist...)

A friend of mine managed to get ADSL installed after much fighting with Telkom, he lives about 50m from my new house. How can I use his ADSL line as he has offered to share the line with me until telkom can get themselves sorted.

Please help.
 
I see spades and lots of digging, you could get a 75 metre cord and plug into router, dig a foot deep trench all the way to his place, bury the cable or put in some platic tubing/ducting or take it up, see if you can tie the cable?, how it is located, are you seperated by roads etc, im not sure if theres a power wireless setup available, but that might cost a fair bit.

If you have (or can achieve) line of sight between your dwellings, something like this might help you to connect your two houses together.

You DON'T want to run a cable between houses, as you are likely to encounter things like ground loops, etc, etc which can destroy or adversely affect the functioning of your equipment.
 
Contact Telkom, give your mates telephone number and tell them he's your neighbour and he has ADSL and that might help. A friend had a similar problem when Telkom told him they didn't have lines in his complex but he found out someone else did have ADSL next door and when he explained that they were able to sort it out.
 
Illegal to take a Telkom connection across the border of your property. That said, strong directional antennas?
 
50m distance hardly needs strong directional wireless. You can all but switch off the power output, and the link will be solid.
Unless you're talking home wifi AP - but that'll just give you headaches.
