Can't remember the technical terms thrown around, but my ADSL line was switched over from one system to another on Saturday. Been on a 4meg max line till now. The switch-over will now allow me to go up to 40Mbps. This according to the Telkom technicians that I spoke to when they did the switch.

They told me that I could ask for a line speed upgrade this week. Problem is I do not know who to contact about this. Sent a web enquiry to Telkom, but they say 4meg is max. So they don't know about the upgrade from their own people. I also contacted Axxess, who manages my line, but they are not even responding to my request.

Anyone know who I can contact?

The techies were correct but there is still some work to be done once they have completed their portion of the project. That new "box" must be integrated intot he national grid and also on the national network management systems. Only after those have tested clear will the new "box" be made visible on the ISP's systems. Then they can offer you the improved products. Not before...

Having a similar issue with FTTH in my area. Huawei guys were there installing the fibre, stopped and asked the guy if it's for Telkom and acknowledged that along with the signs. Been about 4 weeks and the coverage map still hasn't been updated so waiting for that.

OK, I can accept that. I have spoken to a Telkom techie (even have his name and cell number) that confirmed that I have been upgrades. Upgrade details id that I have been moved from UNC to MSAN. I even know the port details. RHK19 MSAN1/6/44. This port is available at more than the 4Mbps I am currently on. Telkom techie says anyone that is tasked with my upgrade request should just phone him.

Now I put in an upgrade request to my ISP and they punch the details in on the Telkom app/website and it spits out that I only have 4Mbps available. Almost 3 weeks later and the system has not been updated, although physically it has been. From what you are saying I could have this available to me, but since the system has not been updated, I could be on 4Mbps for months, even years, because someone has not updated the system? Is there no way of speeding this up?

Not sure if it works this way anymore.

Phone Telkom and tell them you believe the system has been upgraded, then tell them to increase your speed to test if this is true and tell them to push it up to 20mb/s.

Reset router and you should be on 20mb/s.

To test you are gonna need a capped test account from any of the ISP's or your line will still say 4mb/s. You may need a router upgrade but not sure on this.

Don't expect Telkom to upgrade their website ever. In December Telkom put up LTE towers in Northcliff which are still not on the system, many many fights later I managed to get the uncapped LTE for my folks.
