So here is a trick if your ADSL is not syncing at the correct speed...
-Note this may not work for everybody...
e.g. You have a 4meg line that should sync @ 4096, but its only @ 2888 or even 1564...or whatever.

Unplug you DSL modem(power off) and phone your ADSL telephone number using your cell phone....let it ring a couple times then put the phone down.
Now connect your modem again and power on...
Your Sync rate should be back to full speed... if PAP authentication fails just reboot the ADSL router again.

Tried this on 2 different DSL lines using Netgear ADSL routers. Worked every time. :wtf:

Hope this helps...Not sure why it works.:o

So if i put my atm card in, get the code wrong twice, get it right on the 3rd time, will i be able to draw 10 times my salary... ??

didn't work at all for me.. pretty much the same as it was before..

Downstream Upstream

SNR Margin: 10.5 11.8 db

Line Attenuation: 38.0 28.0 db

Data Rate: 1847 511 kbps

still can't work out why i have such a data rate.. tried different ISP's, different modems, asked telkom to reset the DSLAM, re-sync the DSLAM, check for noise... I'm only 2.5km from the exchange aswell.

I'm hoping that with the 10mb/s upgrade i might actually be able to get 4mb on my 4mb line.

probably fault on your line so try report it

did you also try another router?

done both.. kept having to keep the fault open as telkom kept telling me they had fixed it.. eventually they just closed the fault on their own.

did you try go into telkom shop and try ask for area managers number?

nope.. but as telkom keep telling me, "we don't gaurentee 4mb/s"
Which is fine but, surely with a line attenuation downstream of 38 and the to be 2.5km from the exchange i should get better than that.

I think i'm gonna wait and see what happens with the upgrades as telkom say my exchange does support 10mb/s. If i still don't get 4mb then i'm gonna complain some more.
