Hi All.

I am thinking of upgrading my adsl line to 10mb. Do you think I will get close to 10mb with the following stats or am I wasting my time ? The Telkom Exchange is about 1km from my house (as the bird flies)

US RATE : 512
DS RATE : 1024
US MARGIN : 12
SD MARGIN : 25
Trained Modulation : ADSL_G.dmt
LOS Errors : 0
DS Line Attenuation : 32
US Line Attentuation : 18
Peak Cell Rate : 1207
CRC RX FAST : 0
CRC TX RATE : 0
CRC RX interleaved : 0
CRC RX Interleaved : 0
Path Mode : Fast Path

Thanks in advanced
Ryan

rather upgrade to a 4mbps, lots of people who have 10mbps lines do not sync at 10mbps. I friend of mine has a 10mbps and does not sync at 10mbps.

Don't know if your exchange supports 10mb

You can receive a stable 10mb easily

If u r on a separate ISP and line with telkom go for 4 mb on ISP then phone 10210 (telkom) and ask them to up your speeds to 10mb!
trust me it's worth it!

Sorry just to let u know if u do the above it's a cheat cheat way of getting 10mb much cheaper

Enter your Downstream attenuation (dB): 32.00
Attainable Rate (ADSL1) - kb/s: 7783
Attainable Rate (ADSL2+) - kb/s: 13828
Distance to the exchange (metres): 2317
Cable Loss (dB/km) - Default = 13.81

Linky?

10Mbps might be pushing it, but I suppose you should be able to at least get 6-8Mbps with it.

Meh. Can't edit it with my default 'droid app.
Thx though. Will try from pc later.

NomNom what modem do you have?

My aunt is on 47 downstream attenuation and sheus getting a stable 10mb!
There is no way that she can be on a stable 10Mbps ADSL connection with 47dB downstream line attenuation! Perhaps she has a modem that is reporting it in 0.1dB units, which would mean that she actually has 4.7dB downstream line attenuation.

My line stats.

Quality of your router also makes a difference. I'm using a TP-Link W8960N...

Thanks for that sand_man!

I see that your SNR margins aren't that great (upstream on being below 10dB), but at least you get 10Mbps down/1Mbps up with a fairly high downstream line attenuation of 32dB.

Hahahaha no they do online tv, Samsung so they have to have a stable line and they do wifi cisco cameras cause they got robbed :P

whats the dl speed of a 10mbps?
if u can get that

but rather go for the 4mbps
it cheaper and maby more stable

cuz no one gets 10mbps
6-8mbps..

paying full price for half of the speed, its a rip-off
