Hi Everyone,

We've got a 256kb diginet line with about 50 user, and obvious the speed is quite slow, we recently got a 1024 adsl line from is, but to my supprise the speed seems the same, i haven't noticed any difference, is there some thing that can be done or is there something that was done wrong, we have at the moment dedicated the diginet line to mail and the adsl line to web browsing.

Diginet = no contention, ADSL is shared with other users (and 1024k is split), also diginet carries a certain guaranteed level of service where ADSL does not. At the moment ADSL is crawling around the country - we are not getting close to what we were end of last year.

who are you using for an isp?

saix , imho are also having huge congestion/problems on their pipes.

verizon (more expensive) however provides an excellent service - very good in the current situation we are in..

and i for one won't even consider IS for 50 users...its past horrible.

yip

u'll have to implement strict measures (bandwidth usage per pc/usage protocols/standards) if u wanna go verizon/saix

thats strange cause at the moment my 4 line is going like a rocket

i suspect the slowness of your line has to do with IS international and not the line speed

why not try getting an uncapped saix account and testing it

we all know IS is slow for international

a 4 meg line should kick the kuk outta diginet

how much does a diginet line cost?

that 384 up channel makes a huge part trying to host 50+ people

thats also causing a problem

saix uncapped?

Yeah I would also like to know since when saix started offering uncapped?

well he is using IS and i just assume with 50+ you need uncapped

im sure ive seen ppl selling uncapped saix accounts

or maybe im wrong hahaha

if i am you can try www.saol.com and go for the 50 gig package

they have 10 gigs for 499 but 50 gig for 3750

499 x 5 is a kuk load less than 50 gigs why is this?

Yeah I would also like to know since when saix started offering uncapped?

Since forever AFAIK (telkom have always marketed it as a 4Gig cap - it's on their site) - not sure if resellers have been pushing it until recently tho'.

Never seen one before - who's offering them and for how much?

EDIT - hold the phone - uncapped or unshaped? :)

I've also got a 4gb saix account which I must say seems to be faster than the uncapped I.S adsl that we have
