Hi guys,

Are there any difference between ADSL or VDSL routers? I've ordered a 20mbps VDSL line on a month to month basis, so I need to buy a router myself.

If there is an older thread pertaining to the above, please drop a link. I could however not find anything.

ADSL and VDSL are different technologies. If you want to exploit the benefits of a VDSL line to the fullest you have to get a VDSL router. There is no compromise possible. If you leave your existing router in place and it is adsl2+ capable, the line will default back to adsl2+ at a max of 20 Mbps and you will not get the benefit of better performance against poor line conditions.
So in my opinion it is rather pointless to upgrade to a VDSL line and not get a VDSL router. And BTW the router MUST be in place and connected to the line when Openserve do the upgrade and configure your new ASP service.

If your existing router is not adsl2+ capable you are even worse off after the upgrade than you are now.

So just go and get the router or cancel the upgrade request.
