Telkom recently increased its prices:

Does anyone know if we're able to just have the line rental without a calling plan with Telkom? In other words, just pay for the R189 each month so that we can get adsl (from someone other than Telkom of course!).

I previously paid for line rental + weekender plan = 187. However the weekender plan no longer exists so now i've been automatically moved to line rental + Evening&Weekender = R206.

Like the majority of South African's, I can't even remember the last time I used my landline to make a phone call. In fact I don't even have a phone that can plug in to the land line.

So, is it possible to not have a calling plan and just pay the R189 each month for the landline rental?

Not if you keep TI as you ISP... If you go to someone else like Afrihost for example to only pay line rental, and obviously for the package you have.

Telkom internet is not my ISP (never has been). I only have landline + weekender plan with them. So im asking if I can cancel the calling plan.

The reason I ask is that the last time I enquired (many years ago),...the calling plan was compulsory, you couldn't just have the landline rental. Im wondering if that has changed?

hmmm, now to figure out where to cancel my calling plan online. They sure don't make it easy to find the option to do it. I hope I don't have to waste my time calling Telkom to do it.
