Adult ADHD

A person who has ADHD's brain has a lot fewer pleasure receptors than the average person's brain. A lot of the ordinary tasks where somebody with a normal brain would get a sense of pleasure from doing that tasks, somebody with ADHD would literally feel nothing.

For me I was a teenager when I learnt that normal people felt a sense of pleasure just for the act of eating, for me all I feel less hungry when I eat and nothing else for the most part.

As for alcohol I don't get that feeling of pleasure people talk about when drinking unless I'm absolutely wasted.
When were you diagnosed with ADHD

High energy levels culminates in exhaustion
If you have ever seen a child with untreated ADHD then look at the symptom exhaustion, it will make more sense

Yeah sure I had a kid with undiagnosed ADHD for many years…exhaustion was never a factor.

Quite the opposite, impossible to exhaust more like.

ADHD is a very vast and constantly evolving topic that doesn’t just have single symptoms and hardly has the same symptoms applicable across the board.

That is what I was saying, hyperactive and exhausted at the same time, running into doors, walls, scraped knees and shins, unexplained cuts and bruise, the child is physically and mentally drained, just because the child cant sit still does not mean they are not tired, so when you see the list of symptoms and see exhaustion, it will make more sense and more specific to the condition

Oh I remember you now, youre that "alternative healer" guy from the depression thread.

You de realize that ADHD never goes away right?
As someone that grew up with severe ignored/undiagnosed ADHD, I can tell you that the alternatives are far far worse than that. I HATED every minute of school. Socially anxious mixed ADHD made for a fukking nightmare experience.

He is happy, he has friends, he is getting great grades. If it means that he is medicated for the rest of his life, so be it.

I regret not getting diagnosed and medicated decades ago.
Flip. That is me. Besides my social awkwardness, I also hated school. Never studied and always found something else to do instead and the result was me scraping by during my matrixlc exams.

Hectic depressed and during my early adult years a psychiatrist included the diagnosis of ADD.

I also regret not using the Methylphenidate earlier during my years at school. I would have done so much better.

I do, however, wonder about the possibility that Methylphenidate/Ritalin would have exasperated my depression symptoms during high school.

There is a massive ™ difference between me using Methylphenidate and not using it as an adult. I'm absolutely thriving at work and at home.

This is what happens in a world were ADHD and Autism is overdiagnosed

What do you mean by "this".

Youtube video's? Questionable youtube video's? Search for any medical condition and you will find good and bad video's on it. (I havent watched the one you posted, but its irrelevant)

And by what metric are you saying its "over diagnosed"?
There is a level of misdiagnosis, but as with any science this gets corrected as we learn more about neuro-diverse conditions.

By this rate every single deviation from the mean will be diagnosed as a neurological condition.

What rate? What is your metric?
I find these types of arguments really annoying, you know exactly what I'm talking about and you about what rates and I'm talking about yet you want me to restate data that we both already know about.

What's the actual point of that?
Other than deflecting and stalling from an actual discussion.

There is no deflecting.

You claimed it was over diagnosed, I asked you for evidence on that claim because its not true in my experience.
You post that "this" is what happens without defining what "this" is leaving for a broad interpretation that it must be somehow bad.
Then you claimed that by some undefined rate any deviation will be diagnosed as a condition. Again that is not my experience. What rate are you referring to?

You are making vague claims with no basis in reality. If you have evidence for your assumptions then present them.

"This" is what happens when people make assumptions. At this "rate"we will end up believing anything because someone has a biased opinion about something with no facts.

The actual discussion is about when people go undiagnosed for years and only get the diagnosis in Adulthood.

But you are adamant to drag it to something it is not.

go back to 5 years there and you'd find several other articles supplying similar.

The layperson can go "I don't attention span seems to get short, I must have ADHD" and push their GP to prescribe ADHD meds.

And then you get GPs prescribing meds for "psychological problems", I'd say it's worth putting a contrarian argument out there.

That's not how you get diagnosed for ADHD.

Everything is based on instant gratification, instant noodles, fast food, T20 cricket, 45min-1hr series, lets all have ADHD
