Advanced Broadband and Speed Etc.

Now that "Advanced Broadband" was launched on 5 April 2009 and is now in the past I wonder how smoothly it has gone with "Mirgrations" and "Download Speeds" thus my posting a few questions in this regard. Your responses would be interesting to see.
Q1) Wonder what downlink speeds have been recorded on "Advanced Broadband by those who have mirgrated Contract from "Standard" to "Advanced" to date?
Q2) Any tried to "Migrate" from Contract "Standard" to "Advanced" after 5 April 2009 and (a) The Migration failed on 1 May 2009 (b) The Migration was sucsesfull on 1 May 2009?
 
Best I got was 3000kbps down on vodacom speedtest and 300KB on rapidshare with a -90db signal strength, not that signal strength has got anything to do with speed, just threw it in as well. :)

Actually, signal strength has a lot to do with speed. The better the signal, the more complex encoding (and thus speeds) can be used.

Inversely, a crappy signal will see you drop down to very low speeds.

Best way to improve a signal is always with a better antenna, correctly set up.
 
I dunno V3g, I never got better speeds than what I get at my lowest signal.
I parked right under a tower more than once with full signal strength and it could never outstrip what I usually get. Sometimes Id get horrific speeds at full signal. :sick:
 
Guys, sorry to interrupt, but my E220 modem gets as fast as around 1.8 mbps, whereas my new 3G router goes up to 3 - 3.5mbps. I am still on Standard Broadband. Do I need to flash my modem or what?

The E220 can do 3.6Mbps out of the box....and if you flash it with the firmware on Vodacom's web site, it can do 7.2Mbps.

Maybe the tower must still be upgraded, or you had a very poor signal.
