This is quite important. A woman certainly cannot get balanced advice from say someone who thinks abortion is wrong. Regarding the advert I very much doubt Marie Stopes is trying to promote abortion and it is up to the naysayers to prove they are. So instead of the usual propaganda maybe they should try some facts for a change.

Rather, there is a minimal protection to ensure it is not shown around children's programmes.

Don't tell me, they're worried about a spate of 5 year olds demanding abortions.

The ProLife Alliance claimed the commercial "will not provide full information about foetal development, the abortion procedure itself, the health risks which abortion poses for women, let alone the alternatives to abortion".

Now really how would they squeeze all that into a television advert? Are the people to which this organisation panders really so stupid that they'd consider this a remotely reasonable argument against the advert. And if I were to ask the ProLife Alliance would I get factual information on fetal development, abortion risks and so on or would they exagerrate (or outright lie)?

You know the funny thing is that loonies like George Bush probably actually increased abortions, not to mention misery for unwanted children that did not get aborted, while at the same time endangering the lives of women, through their refusal to fund organisations that included abortion amongst their services.

Yes, but is it an informed choice? Without councilling? Knowing the stages of fetal development? They are presenting it, not as an option, but as a "get out of jail free" card. Abortion has a lot of far reaching consequences for the woman physically and emotionally. It is not an easy decision to make and live with.

Do you know the first thing about Marie Stopes clinics? Have you been to one to find out? Have you even seen the advert?

Rubbish, unlike the porn channels / god channels, this is going to be advertising on a public channel , i.e. like UK equivalent of sabc 2 or 3. Not as easy to just don't like it don't watch it.

It's trivial actually. If your TV comes with space age features like mute and off. And naturally the watcher needs to at least have the intelligence of a monkey in order to operate these complicated features.

And if the baby is going to cause the mother to die ? If you save the baby you kill the mother. So then you can't win.

We have so many ways to save lives that should not have been saved... often its the correct choice to let something die that is supposed to die, more often its a better choice to help some one die that is suffering.

Call it murder if you want but its more humane.

Those most opposed to abortion really don't care about how much suffering is caused. They could care less that an unwanted child will be mistreated or grow up in an institution.

Sure just do what's convenient for you.

Frankly if a couple is stupid enough to not take the proper precautions then they should have to live with the consequences of their actions.

It is really impossible to define, so a different approach is taken - viability. In South Africa you can have an abortion voluntarily early on, with an allowance for a late second trimester abortion in the case of a high likelihood of birth defects. Frankly is an infant fully human? Early on they display less human behaviour than the average dog.
