WhatsApp has stated that it will start showing adverts alongside the app’s Status feature, reported The Verge.

WhatsApp Vice President Chris Daniels told journalist in India that the ads alongside the Status feature would be the “primary monetisation mode for the company”.

I have a Voda SIM and get lots of SMS's advertised their services.
Now Vodacom can save millions by sending their SMS adverts via WhasApp.

Thought about it but the Freeme bundle includes enough other things - esp 5gb of music streaming - to make it worthwhile.

Pity TM's Whatsapp bundle was so short lived.
