Advice for a new system

actually your mobo makes very little difference in terms of nvidia chipsets

the heart of a computer is actually the pc, if that struggles single thing struggles

most board only cost more because of alot of added gimmicks and stuff most ppl wont use :)

scotty as far as i know just put it in your luggage bag

leave some clothing there man im sure you need cheap pc stuff more than your thongs for instance *g*

Thanks guys.

I think I'm going to change that RAM to the Mushkin or Team Elite, any idea which is better, the only technical difference you can see is that the Mushkin has slightly lower latencies, 5-5-5-12 compared 5-5-5-15 on the Team Elite.

Hansa, or anyone, do you think the 500Watt iSonic would be enough, I don't want to keep getting more and more expensive parts. ShockG trusted that one and 500Watts should be enough to run this rig, it's basically bare in terms of drives and addon cards.

I don't think theres really a problem with this board, its got great features and a nice chipset, and I trust Asus enough...

arent am2 boards all ddr2 and not normal ddr as per 939/754?

Yep

New AMD Pricing coming soon...will keep you posted

More price drops? Well I'll check out Intel and AMD again later then, he'll probably only buy this rig in a month or so.

Anybody know where I can get a casing like this in Cape Town.

I couldn't find it anywhere, I know computersonly and prophecy have it, if you order for more than R1000 form them you get free shipping.

Rather go for a standard 8800GTS 320MB, not the XXX version.
You can get them for R3000, so that's a R300 saving.

Ja, the choice was between these two, but the XFX have decent overclocks and you get a free mousepad. :p I'm not sure if the R300 is worth it... depends if he'll OC it himself I suppose.

im not sure bout the 500w...but the 600w is really cheap at +-500rand
