Advice for Business User

I know for a fact that TEL have already tested ADSL 1mb/s, 128kb/s & 64kb/s
So it should not be that long before it is available.

PS. Does not matter how you share the ADSL line betrween the 2 offices, the line is capted on the speed (512Kb/s total, not for each modem/router).
The accounts (ISP) will cap the amount of data transfered (e.g. 3Gig each account)

I dought whether Telkom will release a 128 kbps or a 64 kbps ADSL soon. The price will have to be lower than the 192 kbps one which will come close or even lower than ISDN. And ISDN AFAIK is still a big cash cow for Telkom. They wouldn't want to shoot themselves in the foot.
Maybe when the SNO is up and running?

Karnaugh - NZ is busy with their roll-out of 16mb ADSL :) Don't know why Telkom can't just skip the 1mb and go to 8, or 2 at least...

ajax, I think you are correct, but from what I have seen in the past they will use these new small ADSL to fix a problem they have.
They will probably say we all complain that ADSL is very expensive, bla bla... and in stead of lowering the current cost, they will bring in these small offerings to say : See, it's afordable now! While in a mean time it is so slow it's not broadband anymore!

Interesting thing about 1Mb dsl, if you download constantly at 100KB/s you would transfer over 8GB in 24 hours. Not to mention uploads, which will probably be at least 40KB/s.

3GB cap doesn't make much sense then, does it?

Telkom doesn't ever make sense, now do they. I think Wireless broadband is the only product that can actually give Telkom a run for their money......just waiting for the product to mature, may take another year or 2 though.

I'm sure that isnt 16Mb "ADSL" probably VDSL or some other standard..

I think DSL can be boosted to just under the 60Mb /s

It is called VDSL AFAIK... It is the the only DSL type tech that uses fibre optic networks as part of its functions. It can get closer to the end user than normal ADSL...

Telkom will be sure to use this soon!

Exactly, what did we do (in our past lives or present) to deserve Helkom (thanks MaD). Were our sins so great? :(
