Make sure you haven't somehow lost your DNS settings. I sometimes get that, but if I update my IP address with Unotelly manually, it fixes the issue.

I've been using Netflix for the last 5 months and I've never had any issues with it, it's a fantastic service. Although I do have DSTV as well, Netflix could be a good substitute, just that you won't get any sport with it.

Can't really go wrong with Netflix. I've used Hulu as well, which has more of a variety of series/movies to choose from, but it's not as user friendly and found that the quality of some of the stuff wasn't on par with Netflix, but that may have been setup dependent at the time.

Block public dns lookups like the ones destined for 8.8.8.8 208.67.222.222

Been using it for a few months without too many issues.... now suddenly BAM. I've updated IP from unotelly a few times and had a look in my router settings but everything is still the same.

How...? :erm: (This is not something I know a lot about unfortunately)

And before I forget I can access Netflix when on my PC but not through my Roku 3 devices. (Roku account is US)

The rokus are the ones which now have hard coded Google dns as secondary which might explain why your pc works and the roku doesn't

Reading the last few posts made me go and check up on the Netflix channel on my Roku. I recall that channel recently had an update.
Fortunately everything still works fine. The only thing I'd previously done was to setup the static routes below,

Thanks Guys. Yeah I set up the ones from the earlier link and it is working again :D

My question is as follows. Note I've never had adsl before, and a quick search on Telkom says I can basically only get a 2mb line. I have no issues with streaming in SD, but my question is this. If I had to be on a capped line, and I had to stream content for 8 straight hours as an example, how much data would something like this equate to. I've always been asking this, as I was always under the impression that streaming uses quite a bit of data and that uncapped is the way to go. However reading a few posts, a lot of people are going capped. The question is how much data would get me through a month of streaming?

Netflix themselves refer to the following usage. I have a 2mbps line and limit it to medium (SD) quality, which is perfectly watchable on a 42" Plasma. I do not watch 8 hours a day but do most evenings, and the kids watch during the day, and we just recently ran into issues with the 70GB soft cap with MWeb.

I won't be using much of Netflix, but I will be using Mobdro to watch skysports 1-5 and a few other things. But if I can get away with about on average 8 hours a day then would 100GB's be enough for a 2mb line streaming SD content. Obviously I won't be streaming 8 hours a day every day, but purely a rough calculation.

How do you limit it to SD quality? I am new to Netflix and I can't find that option

You can't do it in the android app, you need to log into Netflix on your browser, click on your icon in the top right, then my account, then playback settings and it's under there.

There is an auto setting that adjusts the picture based on your line but I prefer to limit to medium anyway. Feel no need for better.

I keep mine on auto, then at least when I'm able to stream HD, it does so automatically. Unfortunately there is no option to limit it per device, although you used to be able to do it through your browser, by shift-clicking, but this doesn't work anymore.
