Advice needed for new high wheel base vehicle

I want to buy a new car, am thinking of something with a high wheel base so I can do some exploring in the Cederburg etc.

I want lots of comfort as well as bells and whistles inside, like Sat Nav, iPod connection to sound system, etc.
I'm looking to spend about 300 to 400 k

I am interested in the Toyota Fortuner 3l, but have now discovered it doesnt come with Sat Nav.

What do you recommend?

Jimny for a R300k+ car? :rolleyes: You can get something much bigger for that money.

Apparently the new Chev Trailblazer is really good and should be within your budget. CAR magazine rates it higher than the Fortuner...

I heard rumours that a sat-nav might be offered soon but if they don't materialize you could use a Garmin/Tom Tom or put an after market audio system like those caska ones.

The Toyota Fortuner even 4x2 ones are quite capable off road and it has a diff lock if things get hairy and economy is around 9-10l/100.If you want to look elsewhere see the recently launched Chevrolet Trailblazer
 
I dislike that you cant remove the rear seats in a Fortuner (if you only need a 5 seater)
Subaru Forester...more ground clearance than a Fortuner. ( ok its only 5mm) but more dynamic on road.
New CRV?
or wait for the New RAV4.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport?

Obviously these are softer but it depends how much off roading you want to do. Otherwise you are confined to the Trailblazer or the Fortuner really.

No such thing as high wheel base. Perhaps you mean good ground clearance? Wheel base refers to the distance between front & rear axles .. ground clearance refers to the distance between the lowest point of a vehicle, and the ground.

Seriously though, for what you're looking for, any 4x4 bakkie would suffice...

Just use a normal GPS unit will cost you far less or nothing to upgrade the maps than those built in units(caska,etc).Besides the standard Display audio is ok no DVD but at least it has Bluetooth and usb and you can dial a number straight from the unit in my opinion the standard system is just a glorified Radio because it doesnt have dvd or navigation our Hilux has this unit and it's standard on all Fortuner's except the 2.5 D4D and all double cabs and extra cab Hilux models

My friend wants to sell the demo model of the Navara Arctic Truck ... if you want to go full out crazy
