Hi PPl

I want to purchase a 2GB Cell C contract (R149) for my mum that lives in Durban. She will just do normal browsing incl Facebook,no downloading and probably once or twice a month,Skype me via video.

1.Will this data cap suffice?
2.Cell c rep said that after 2GB its hard capped and then i will have to buy pre paid.Is this true?
3.Is there HSDPA coverage?
4.What other options do i have for this price?
5.What happens after the year contract?Do i only purchase out of bundle rated data?

Tx in advance

I would suggest buying the prepaid offer for R1499 rather. If your mom finishes the 2GB before the end of the month she'll probably continue to use the internet and be charged 39c per MB.

If you deplete your monthly data allocation before the end of the month, you can keep surfing at our out of bundle rate (39c per MB)

The 2GB is not hard capped on postpaid/contract. You'll continue to download at 39c per MB.

Make sure you are covered, borrow a friend's modem to test it at your place. You can return the modem within 7 days, but there's a return fee, I think R250.

There's the option of 8.ta for R199 for 10GB, but it's a 24 month contract and you need to purchase a modem.

After a year you can buy a sim card only for R999, if the promotion is still available.

I suggest to try on prepaid SIM and data bundle first. For coverage and cap. Skype and 2GB should be fine, but with video it can hit the cap. There is also 8ta offering 2+1 promo bundle.

It is better to buy modem separately. Around R350 and CellC 2GBx12 SIM promo R999, instead of R1499 for all. Or better modem E367 for R699 @8ta, it works with CellC
Prepaid promo gives 12 months access , pay for 10 months and the first month is a grace period (2GB free).

Strongly recommend the prepaid option over contract. Pay upfront and don't worry about billing (or billing errors) for the next year or the OOB shark.

As long as you don't get the ZTE MF190 as it is not UMTS 900 compatible, either is fine
