To my untrained eye, they all almost look the same in stores. Yes, I can see the difference between an LED vs OLED, but those measured differences, viewing angles, fast motion, HDR, processing quality? Rarely. Only just now getting used to having a 120Hz screen

The retards also tend to rate the delivery and service they get from TAL, instead of the actual product...

A lot of it will be post purchase rationalisation. So I chose this item and payed a lot of money for it therefore it is a good choice. So unless its a complete piece of junk you are far more likely to rate it higher than if you saw it at a friends house.

My 3 year old Hisense 65U8G just decided to fail - internal crack in the panel with no physical damage on the glass...weird af. Does anyone know of any new 65 inch TV deals? Looking at maybe TCL or Toshiba, budget around R10k as I will be renting out my place next year so don't want to spend too much on a new TV.

Check you're still not under warranty, it's either 3 years or 4 years for Hisense.

Thanks, I have tried but their view it was due to physical damage so not covered by warranty. I have kids in the house so I can't completely rule that out, but it just seems odd that the panel is cracked without the glass being damaged.

that sounds to me that it was heat-related: the internal part got too hot, and the temperature difference between the internal and the glass resulted in the crack.

It can happen if the pressure was distributed evenly enough not to break the external glass, I've only seen it once on an old LCD monitor, it fell on to a server that was going to be racked and must've landed on a sweet spot.
For 10k and 65" you're going to not get a decent TV anymore, it will suffice but it won't be great.

Pulled the plug on an LG 65C5 last Sunday at Hirsch's, which got delivered & installed yesterday.

But ARC is not working: tried everything from re-wiring HDMIs, various settings, hard reset on the TV, even went & got a brand new HDMI cable, no luck.

And it was working perfectly on my 8-yr old C7.

Now we wait for LGSA expert to call me back.

So be careful if you are considering the C5.
