Been fighting the urge to buy a car but a bargain(?) just came up.
2013(?) Scirrocco 1.4 TSI at R320k, with only 1000km on the clock.

Anyone drive these cars and can let me know about performance? Insurance? Petrol?
As a day-to-day drive?

is that car a 1.4? OMgeeee ive heard that thing startup and it doesnt sound like a 1.4.! damn.

VW is open to negotiate usually. I'd first ask around what a new one would cost and how much they'd drop off the price.

Base price : R318,400
Sunroof : R9,000
Bi-Xenons : R8,110
Sound System (mid range) : R9,420

The car, brand spanking new is R344930 with the options you listed.

Its not a bargain at all. Its 2nd hand, you should start at 15-20% below new price for that.

Added Specs :
SUNROOF
XENON HEADLIGHTS
6 DISC TOUCHSCREEN CHANGER

@Tbunny, your totally right. Going through on Sat to see if I can test drive the car but anything I should know about the Scirocco? Good or bad?

Wear a diaper for when you jizz in your pants! I've never driven it, would love to hear what you think of it after the test drive :)

Everything I know about the car says its a beauty, but at that price its not. Especially not for a 2nd hand (pre-owned, pre-loved or whatever other BS the salesman throws around) vehicle. That car should be on the market for R280k. Oddly enough, extra's don't really increase a cars 2nd hand value in this country.

I got R20K off from new with a bit of negotiation. 280K might be a bit positive, but I surely think he can get it for a better price than what they offered.

At R20k off of new, it would put that vehicle with the extra's brand new right in the price range they're asking now.

Its 2nd hand, plain and simple. I would offer 15% less than new price for a 2nd hand vehicle.. even with only 100kms on the clock.

Then again, I'm in that position of not needing a car.. its a want, and if I can't get it at the price I want to pay.. i walk away. Did that twice recently to dealers and they're dumbfounded when you do that. They had a Opel Corsa on the floor for R90k when its retail value according to the "book" was R75k... I told him what I would pay which was R75k cash, no extra fees.. and he was like no, thats too low. I walked away and the dealer came after me and asked what I was doing. I told him and he just stood there dumbfounded as I drove off. He's phoned me twice since then, because the vehicle is still on his floor after a month. He still won't come down to the R75k I offered, and I've subsequently found a vehicle at a price I am prepared to pay.

Make 100% sure there is NO accident damage and if buying get that in writing. Why is it been sold with 1000k's on the clock. Its not a demo, and why would anyone put 1000 on the clock and then only decide to "NTU" the sale - possible but I don't trust it.

If you buy possibly have it taken to the AA for a check to see what bolts/parts have been worked on etc. I smell a rat (it may be a dead one and it may not be).

On the site, it isn't listed as a demo but will confirm with the dealer ship tomorrow. Also isn't 1000km too short for a demo?

I find the 1.4T to be a little under powered in a car that looks like that. The 2.0T for me thanks.

I can't for the life of me think why you'd buy a 1.4 for R320K instead of looking for a 2012 2.0T for that price which you can find if you shop around, which would still have 2 years warranty left and 4 years service plan. You can extend the warranty for a few grand.

I drive the 2.0T scirocco and it is DEFINITELY worth it. It's an amazing drive. It has better resale value than the 1.4 as well.

I'll look around, don't need a car but it's a BIG want currently and this jumped out at me. Will do a bit more research and see whats what but the thing I'm worried about is that buying 2nd hand, in a car like this, the driver would have driven it too hell and back.

Well and good to have a sunroof and a whole host of extras but is the 1.4 not a donkey?
I'd personally skimp on the sunroof for more performance.

That's why I said it isn't a demo. Seriously investigate properly before paying top dollar for a secondhand vehicle and then finding out it's defective in some way.

Nice car though and good luck.
