Hey guys!

So i need some advice on fibre product choice. Im with Mweb have been happy with them for a while, been on a 8mb uncapped line for a few years with no issues. I have looked at my usage over the past year or so per month, the heaviest month I got to was 260 gb, of which around 90gb of it was free night time data.

I am now faced with fibre upgrade decisions as mom wants to get rid of DSTV which i agree with, she wants netflix and well, i want fast downloads and gaming xD. So we had fibre installed in our road this week by Frogfoot and have looked at the pricing which to my surprise was not too bad. Im happy with mweb and their pricing so upgrading my exisitng package to Fibre seems the way to go.

I am considering the 400gb 20mbps deal which is R660 per month (my 8mb uncapped was 620). This entails 200gb day time and 200gb night time.

My question is, do I go for this as im concerned i will hit the cap from general browsing, game updates and netflix as well as youtube. I can schedule downloads of movies and the occasional update for past 12pm but what Im thinking is, with pretty much twice the speed, will the line just chow data super quick? From what i understand, uncapped is usually throttled/ shaped whereas capped is not? I am aware that i can also top up the cap with 90 rand for 10gb

Advice would be warmly welcomed as Fibre is definitely not my forte xD

Thanks!

Who is the fibre provider in your area?

Well first of all if you drop DSTV for netflix streaming then 200GB is just not going to cut it.

As @PBCool suggested and I will also recommend go with Cool ideas 10Mbps option then you are well within your budget and it's uncapped 24/7. If you want 20Mbps uncapped with cool ideas it's only R189 per month extra from what you paid for your adsl.

Then if you don't want cool ideas but most people use them and you see how nice Paul is then

rocketnet could also be an option.

Do NOT go with Mweb you will regret it especially on the capped account and then uncapped with all their throttling.

IMO ditch MWEB (you'll thank me in the long run) and go with an ISP like Cool Ideas...
(I don't work or have any affiliation with them other than being one of their happy customers)

Damn! because I clicked order on the 20mbps fibre already under the option upgrade my account, is there a way to cancel it, surely there is? Im an idiot sigh
