Hey guys i opened up an assault case against some knob head around 13months ago.
the police have the video footage, fingerprints and my j88 hospital check.

Saps finally contacted me 2 months back and gave me the court date of 04/11/2018...THATS A SUNDAY!Court isnt open weekends.
for the past 8 weeks i have called and emailed the station, the investigating officer, the station commander,Saps complaints,IPID,DPCI and even the state commissioner over the course of 8 weeks hoping someone would start to take the case seriously and just give me the correct court date,my emails go ignored,80% of calls dont go through and the other 20% when they do answer they promise to get back to me and never do

i finally got an email back tonight and guess what. they gave me the same court date of 04/11/2018...a sunday sigh.

iv tried calling the court them selves and even they say they cant help me until the court date, even though i explain to them that its a sunday .

so its next weekend and im running out of time to try find the actual court date, that guy really needs to be punished.i wont go into what he did but just know its enough for me to keep trying to find the correct court date.

can anyone recommend a course of action ?
I did email the situation to the public protectors today.

You could try going to the courthouse and speaking with a prosecutor. Even better if you can speak with the prosecutor for your case.

Can you not get the info from the police station? IE actually go there?

And take a calendar with you...
spent around 7 hours there already over the course of the few weeks, either investigating officer isnt there or they cant find the file.

i was thinking i should do that the friday before, thats my last resort

Go to the courts and ask for the clerk of the court.

Agreed.

The clerk of the court maintains a court role and they can check which cases are scheduled for which courts on which days.

yeah it should be that way but the clerk says that i must wait till the actual court date ,they refused to help over the phone

Well, if that is the case, the South African Police and the Department of Justice has teamed up nicely to bungle up your case and set the suspect lose without going to court. The last thing you can do, if you so wish, is to pitch up at court the Friday and the Monday just to make sure.

Can you open a case of incompetence against the officer in question?

Theoretically yes. You can lodge a complaint with the station commander or with IPID. Realistically, it really and truly is like taking out your private parts, point into the air, waiting for a strong gush of wind and letting rip with a proper pee into that wind.

IPID has done nothing. case was rescheduled after i went to the prosecutor the day before.WHo.Dat you are a idiot thinking im in jail when im the one who opened the case, learn to read before making stupid comments.

They do this a lot. Work together to mess over people. They barking mad.

@chimera012 Well at least I got your attention. It is a pet-peeve of mine when people ask for advice, it is given, and then we do not hear from them again. But I got the message, will steer clear of you.
