Hi All
Just got my Imagine-IPS account with 4 Static IP's and a Cisco 837 Router - Hooked everything up and everything seems to be fine until -

I access a particular site to d/l a file, and it tells me that the IP address is already downloading a file - I am not d/l any file from there yet, but it gives me an IP that does not match any of the details given to me by Imagine - using whatismyip.com, I am given my PC internal IP, and it also tells me that a proxy is detected - what does this mean?

I have 2 PC's connected to the Cisco router, with each PC having it's own static IP address on the network, and each PC can seem to access most sites without this problem...

...have i missed something or am I just being stupid? :)

BTW: I have tried accessing the router's setup as per the manual on http://10.10.10.1, but this returns a blank page.

Mutiple/Changin IP addresses on SAIX

I am having exactly the same problem through Web Africa. It is a new issue that I never had before November 1st - some websites are suddenly saying that I am logging in twice from two different computers with different IP addresses, within the same session. I don´t think this is a router issue as nothing has changed on my router - I therefore assume it is an SAIX issue!

When I go to www.whatsmyip.com, the site lists two IP addresses. For example:

Your IP Is 165.146.137.x, 198.54.202.x
Proxy Detected Is 198.54.202.226

I do not have a proxy configured, and have no reason to have two IP addresses. However, whatsmyip.com claims I have both.

What is causing this? Is there any way around this? Is this another good reason to switch to IS? Does everyone get this result at whatsmyip.com?

Telkom have numerous transparent proxies on the ADSL network.
I had a hell of a time downloading my legal copy of Alcohol, because they have a session checker that checks for access from different IPs. I eventually had to mail the help desk to provide me with a link that didn't do the checking.

So yeah, being forced through a transparent proxy can really f*** you around.

What does a transparent proxy do?
Its a proxy server that is used to cache files - but it is invisable. From your side it just looks like another router but it has a hard drive and serves you files from there if it has them available thereby saving the ISP bandwidth in fetching files - particularly over the international link
