Hey guys,

Last year one of my closest friends was driving my car, and they got caught by a speeding camera going 97km/h in a 60km/h zone last year.

This is above the limit and goes straight to court. The fine came onto my pay city, in which I had submitted the nominate a driver email to have it transferred to him instead of my name, almost a year later, the fine is still on my name and there has been no response to the email.

What can I do or where do I go as I do have proof that I sent the email within the window of nominating a driver

I'm moving to CPT in the next weeks and I want to try get this sorted in time.

Your first step would be to visit your nearest traffic department. Speak to them and provide them with the evidence that you have nominated the correct driver of the vehicle. If they cannot or refuse to assist then you go to your local court and go see the Senior State Prosecutor and explain the problem.

If this fails, take note of the court date. Be at court when the case is called. Plea innocent explaining that you did not commit the crime as you were not the driver. Present all evidence to the court. Including that you tried speaking to the traffic authorities and prosecutor and they all were unable or refused to assist. You will be found innocent and the case closed.

That's the thing, the address on the car is my old address, and I forgot to update it. I have no idea if a summons would be issued.

He will be fine. He legally did what was required from him. He reported the correct driver, but authorities failed to fix it. There is no case against him. If a warrant was issued it will be withdrawn.
