When I wanted to renew my vehicle licence I was told that the car was no longer on my name. Someone transfered my car into their name. After obtaining the ENate's form from traffic dept , I was told to lay a charge of fraud at my nearest SAP vehicle theft unit. Which I did. The vehicle is my possession , has been in my name the past 10 yrs. I am awaiting news from the investigating officer. Have a file containing the case nr , affidavit , all proof that car is mine. I need to drive my car until this is sorted. What fines will I face when stopped by traffic officers.

Doubt there will be a fine. But you are technically driving a vehicle that is not yours as per the records. I. E. Stolen vehicle.
A roadblock could become a nightmare.

More like the traffic department updated the wrong details and transferred your vehicle to someone else.

Why stolen vehicle? Wouldn't it just be driving a car owned by another person? Like when I borrow my girlfriend's car for a day.

Well the vehicle is not stolen , I ve been driving my car for the past 10 years. What IS stolen is my chassis and vin nr. I had to lay a charge of fraud against the lady who did this. SAP feels theres a lot of these cases where the chassis nr gets stolen and registered on other vehicle. The lady who did this cant be traced on the contact details she registered at traffic dept... I have a thick file of ALL the proof that the car is mine , carrying this with me in my car in case of road block. Its a nightmare... The investigating officer busy on my case is also busy with another 150 similar cases of fraud

I agree , thats what SAP said to me. SHE did wrong stealing my chassis nr and using it on another car somewhere!!!

I have ALL the renewal of licenses , logbook , service records , payment records. Car paid up 7 years ago already. Private buy. Car was transfered into my name 10 years ago when I bought it. In January this year this lady registered it into HER name!!! Looks like this is a normal happening in SA

This, the issue would be the expired license.

but its no fault of mine , I was at the traffic dept to renew license... In June... Only THEN did I find out that my car was transfered into this lady s name in January!!!!

or details of my car used on a stolen vehicle... and yes SAP says they have a 1000 similar cases... very scary indeed.

think about this. The chassis and vin nr is openly displayed on our license disks on our window!!! anybody can take a pic of it in a parking area... use it on a stolen vehicle...
its absolutely ridiculous... crime ridden country we live in , us who live strictly according to the law must now drive on the road with unroad worthy car , us who gets into trouble... not fair

Can you also not just ask your investingating office to issue you a letter stating that the investigation is underway and that you are the rightful owner of said vehicle and that the issue has been handed over to the licensing department?

I think since now he has reported it to SAPS and that the car that the VIN and Chassis numbers have been transferred illegally it may appear on the file for the vehicle on checks going through roadblocks.

In essence to fix the issue, he had to report it to SAPS and start an investigation, the roadblock cops would not know if they are stopping his car or the cloned vehicle.

I lived in the westen cape when this transfer was done somewhere in Witbank!!!! the Enates form from Traffic dept has the ladys details , ID nr , Cell and work nr , Home address... but it was all untraceable...now what? By law the license from her side must be renewed in January 2020. They have put a block on the system because of the Case of Fraud I layed at SAP... worse case scenario it should be sorted by then hopefully? In the meantime I have to drive with my car...
