I've become pretty disillusioned with Aerosat over the last month or so, i used to be a big proponent of recommending them to my friends etc. But since they've instituted rather draconian shaping measures of P2P downloads I've stopped recommending them to anyone and am myself looking for a better alternative in Port Elizabeth.
When i signed up in January for my uncapped 192kb line they had traffic shaping but it was reasonable, my bittorrents would for instance be limited during peak times and i would get anything between 5-20kb/s during office hours, but off-peak i would normally get full speed on my BT downloads, giving me the capability to download between 1gb and 1.5gb a day.
The last month or so it seems like they have instituted much harsher shaping leading to me struggling to download 300mb a day, what also makes no sense is the times of day shaping is at its harshest, sometimes I'll be limited to 5/6kbs through the night and then in the morning during peak hours it will pick up to 15/16kbs for a couple of hours before returning to nada for the rest of the day.
I've talked to support personnel who said that he is aware of the harsher shaping but he would get back to me, I'm still waiting for the call.... E-mails to the support department by me and a friend who is on exactly the same package have gone unanswered.
Now lets see if having a moan on a public conference which i know their management frequents will get a response and/or an explanation...
