Whats the difference between the AFCON and CHAN tournaments?

That might answer my next question is why have them in consecutive years?

I dont see how this tournament proves anything, cause the best team will not be on the field. I guess from a developmental perspective it might help though.

Also explains why i havent seen any real hype or rush to buy tickets.

It is supposed to improve development of locally based players. Not sure if it does any good as the best out of the tournament or outside will still ship off to big paying European leagues, in fact it seems to me it will speed up the sifting.

SA has a decent team. Most of the Bafana squad is usually PSL based. Other African countries use squads with almost no local players.

It's a good opportunity for players who wouldn't normally make the team to gain tournament experience.

If this tournament continues to grow in the future, I can see Europe taking note. You always get the European countries complaining that their players never play in their own leagues.
