PAY channel SuperSport will not screen the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa because it does not have the broadcasting rights to beam the matches in the country.

Clinton van der Berg, the channel’s communications manager, said yesterday: “We will only televise the matches in other parts of Africa and not in South Africa.”
Meanwhile, the SABC is still engaged in negotiations with Sportfive for the rights to broadcast the matches in South Africa.
“There is a dispute between us and Sportfive in terms of money but we are positive we will reach an agreement,” said SABC spokesperson Kaizer Steve Kganyago yesterday.
Sportsfive is based in France and they sell broadcasting rights for organisers CAF. The Afcon kicks off in Angola on Sunday . – Meshack Khotha

Eish.

sadly i dont care too much for this Afcon. without Bafana its pretty depressing

*awaits negative Banana Banana comments*
Bafana don't deserve to be there in the first place.
Look at this fixture and tell me what team BB could beat.
Maybe Mozambique, Malawi.

I watch soccer because I enjoy it, not because my favorite team is playing.
I would watch any soccer match on tv. Thankfully the EPL and La Liga will be around during this January.

If banana banana also have the same attitude as you then it's no wonder they playing worse and worse...

Watching the teams and studying their strategy can only help you beat them and if the matches aren't televised how would you ever study your opponent?

Couldn't agree more. Nice to see stupid comments being spanked. Well done HH :)

Can we get a thread merge, there's a thread about this in the sports section.

ag you guys have it all wrong.... its not about studying other teams bla bla bla.Its obvious there is a huge difference between us and Ivory Coast,Cameroon etc. All im saying it it SUCKS that Bafana is not playing.i love watching my country play..... and if thats a crime its all good. its just not as exciting as it could be now.

Ask any Man U fan about this years FA Cup and they will give you a disgruntled response.they probably not interested in the cup anymore as they not in it.... geezuz

You compare the FA Cup to AFCON... how about... If United weren't in the ECL after this stage... then ask if they'd still watch it and I'd bet you they bloody well would. I mean... there are some awesome teams there.

LMAO! Afcon Cup has what? Algeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Nigeria who at all at this year's WC!

Not worth watching bawahahahaa.

If the host nation had to go through qualifiers I'd doubt SA would be in this up and coming WC... and by your logic you would not watch the WC?
