Lancelot, great wrongs have been committed certainly but equating apartheid with slavery or the holocaust is stretching it
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
Please move thread to philosophical debates as it's clearly about "what if"
Why I started this thread is because of the ANCYL moaning about us robbing them from their resources, while I believe they would not have been able to extract it themselves had we not started doing it. But I'm trying to keep anything political out of this conversation. Perhaps this indicated where I'm coming from with my ori****l post?
I have a question I would like to ask, and it will probably piss many people off, but tough luck. I see so many native Africans complaining about the white man who stole their land and it's resources. Now mining and farming are good examples. Now my opinion is that if the Oppenheimers didn't start mining, all those diamons and minerals would still be under the ground. So what are those resources that we are stealing from the natives, besides land?![]()
Sadly true, but that's not what I wanted it to be. My point was this:
Now why is that word (original) censored?![]()

You are naively (or whitely) assuming the natives would not have progressed beyond mud huts & animal skins, aren't you? And that's were your argument fails.
Um, where did I say that? I said if they were allowed to progress and develop themselves instead of being suppressed they would not doubt have reached that stage themselves!!

They couldn't R13... they had neither the wheel nor a written language. This doomed them. To assume that they could have developed both in the space of 350 yrs would be wishful thinking.
Slavery was relatively small in SA (the brits being vehemently opposed to it) the relatively few slaves in SA were mostly malay and indonesian origin.
No further point arguing this it seems as some people will always have the need to feel that whites are far superior to black people. They will always be inferior to us in their eyes!
Truth is no one knows what would have become of them...They couldn't R13... they had neither the wheel nor a written language. This doomed them. To assume that they could have developed both in the space of 350 yrs would be wishful thinking.
WTF :wtf:According to the Bible Adam and Eve was created in the image of God. And according to all the knowledge we have he was rather more white than black, then God punished people for in fighting and he created different languages and I guess then he made some Back people too, cause where else did they come from?

If less evil white people had discovered Africa instead of the lot that did, then things could have turned out a lot different. Unfortunately those who arrived in Africa took full advantage of the native's lack of sophistication to subjugate, enslave & treat them unfairly.
The human discovery that round nodules of flint can be split and chipped to form a sharp edge is extremely ancient. Tools made in this way have been found in Africa from about 2.5 million years ago.
An event of crucial importance in the development of technology is man's taming of fire. This probably happens some 500,000 years ago in China, where the caves occupied by Peking man contain what appear to be hearths. Some experts believe there is evidence of the use of fire much earlier in south Africa.
The camel has an even more convenient hump. Its height makes it less suitable for draught purposes than the ox, but from perhaps 1000 BC it is used in Asia and north Africa for drawing wagons and for ploughing.
