Hi All

I would like to know what you think of these accounts. Are they good or bad.

What is the daily limit you are allowed & what do people get per month.

Also do you get throttled at all?

Please let me know as i am thinking of getting an account.

Thanks
BB

Why do people worry so much about throttling? Just use the damn internet. No need to back it up.

Apparently you can do about 1.5gigs an hour without worrying too much.

I'm not sure that there is a daily limit, but in a 30 day rolling period, you should easily move 450GB upwards without being throttled. Once throttled, you will never drop below 2Mbps.

Let me know if you have other questions, or just PM me.

And VERY keen to hear everyone's feedback, let us know how we can make this product more awesome! :)

I prob avg 160gb per month mweb, afrihost first uncapped attempt throttled you to death at round 30gb if my memory serves correct. And they lied about knowing anything about it. I have no problem with the way they choose to run their company or what aup policy they use. But when i asked them if they were behind the slow downs they lied. A couple of days later they addmittted to trials. aka throttling to death. So i will stick to mweb for now im sure they will respond soon enough to this offer.

Hey Afriman!
This is a fantastic offer on the 10meg uncapped.
I am only concerned with bundling my line to an ISP because of the issues afterwards. If I do decide to cancel, will it be easy transferring the line back to Telkom or do I need to reapply. It was a headache and a half trying to get a ADSL line from Telkom in the first place.

Well if this is the case then i will say it will be a ****ing awesome product if my exchange supported it I would defnitely give it a try.

I wouldn't chance it hey. Rather have it separate even if it costs a bit more.

Will the throttling apply to all protocols?

That doesn't make sense. I think you're confusing throttling and shaping. Shaping makes certain protocols slower, while throttling makes your whole line slow.

Hi Afriman

So you state that you want to make them better. First we need to know what is your FUP a day / month. Throttling etc...

So in a day if you move 35GB up and down is this OK or do you get throttled ? or at what point do you get throttled?

So then 35GB x 30 Days = +-1TB - This is just a rough idea.

There are so many accounts out there that are S*** because as soon as you do like 60GB you get a mail from the ISP or they kill your speed etc...

So what makes this 10MB Uncapped from you guys better then the rest, besides the all in one deal which is AWESEOME :)

Thanks
BB

I've done > 200GB in 20 days on a 4mb account with no slowdown and no communications from afrihost.
I have (yesterday) switched to the 10mb account.

That should answer your questions, anyway.

Hi Sinbad

Yes i did see that thanks BUT what they say and do are 2 different things. Right now i have an IS Account and no issues.

Are you running there accounts and are you getting any issues?

See the first part of my post.
I've been with them just under a month. Have moved 270GB-ish. I do not do torrents.
Have been some minor billing hiccups which have been speedily addressed, one SMTP server issue which I think was IS's fault, and a delay in upgrading my account from 4mb to 10mb which is also being addressed. Overall I am very happy.

First find out if your exchange supports 10mbps
Then find out from Telkom how far away from the exchange you are.
It doesn't matter if you have an unshaped/uncapped 10mbps account, if you are too far away from the exchange your speeds will really suck. In some cases you might actually find that some 4mbps lines outperforms the 10mbps line purely on the distance from the exchange.

As for the Afrihost 10mbps account, I do not know how good or how bad it is as I am with MWEB
Just my 2c

Ok so i get 7MB / 8MB depends on the day and if Telkom has not messed with the Exchange.

Can anyone else give an update on these accounts on the 4MB / 10MB?

As i want to signup with someone but need the pros and cons.

Thanks
BB

What I do not understand is how can Afri do this but Mweb not?
This worries me as if Mweb which is a massive company, cannot offer such prices, how do Afri do it?
I do not want to move now and in a few months or weeks even, have an issue like last time.

Someone explain it to me :)

Sounds too good to be true doesn't it?

Tempted to get the 4Mbps package but will wait a while to see what the feedback is. I wonder if these prices are gong to hurt Mweb ? Will we see them dropping their prices?
