Hi Anton

I see a few of the members have given you quite a bit of info on our 1Mbps Uncapped product. Please send me a PM if you have any more questions so that I can get you all the info you need. If you'd like to give the product a try, you can sign up with this link, and you'll get 50% off this month's pro-rata, as well as next month's invoice.

Hi Anton,

I was going to switch over to Afrihost as well but then my own ISP offered me a better deal. Call Cybersmart (0861003278) they offering R375 for a 1MB uncapped line including line rental.

We'll be launching new pricing VERY soon ... I can't say more than that. If we're currently only R22 more expensive, I'm pretty sure our new pricing will be better.

Mmm nice, been trying to decide if to stay on Helkom adsl + 10gig and Afrihost top-up or doing the Afrihost thingy in totality - this news might make my decision easy.

However, don't use Afrihost if your downloads will exceed 200GB pm

Robber!

@ Afrihost......

Granted every ISP would love to sell uncapped products and have users who don't use lots of data (from a profit point of view from the company side), and given the common perception from the public side that if we are paying for an "uncapped" line then how much we use should not be an issue, how much would Afrihost consider abuse? When will Afrihost turn around and say you know what.....you are abusing the system now (with regards to a 1mbps line)?

It's hard to say "Here's the target" becuase there are all sort of complex calculations that come into how this works. To be honest, I'm not really smarter than a server doing several thousand calculations per second (I'm definitely better looking tho').

I can say that anything under about 120GB will be safely unthrottled. Remember, it's a 30 day rolling window, not from 1st to month end. You might even do a little more than that, but it depends on what other 1Mbps users are doing. It's not about abuse and punishment, it's about fair usage for all users. We try to throttle in small increments, but you'll never drop below 512kbps no matter how much you download. Of course, the more you download, the longer you'll wait to get back to full speed.

Hope that answers the question :)

Thanks. That gave me a general idea.
