Hi Everyone.

I recently moved into a new place and decided to get my first ADSL Account with Afrihost. I managed to get Telkom to setup a standard telephone line at my place, and its working fine. A few hours after the telephone line was setup I signed up with Afrihost for one of the Data+DSL Line bundle deals. After successfully going through the registration process, and submitting my ID document for legal verification, i received the following email:

Telkom has notified us that the number (011xxxxxxx) is invalid or the details have not been UPDATED or VERIFIED on the Telkom system. Please can you provide us with a valid number or contact Telkom on 10210 and as them verify/update the number their system. Furthermore, this could be due to a new line installation with Telkom and thus the system may need time to be updated. Please let us know once this has been rectified with Telkom so that we can re-process the order.

I tried contacting Telkom but because services offered by their call centre are limited on weekends, no one could help me. Has anyone else had this problem before? Anyone have any advice to offer.

Your line isn't 100% activated on Telkom ' s system yet. Best would be to try again later.

Your voice line and ADSL line are not the same thing. You just have to wait for Telkom to be available because this has nothing to do with Afrihost.

I understand this, but I was under the impression that Afrihost would handle the setup of the ADSL line for me if i chose the bundled packages.

Afrihost can only transfer your line from Telkom. Anything else and they're just requesting Telkom support on your behalf, which is always slower than doing it yourself.

Yup that right :) Its just that the line you registered with Telkom is not fully activated on their systems - so when Afrihost attempts to create an ADSL Line - it tells them the line they are doing that on is not fully activated. You will just need to wait it out and let Telkom activate the line :P

Yo Vicv - starting to become the tech support of this forum :D Nice!

Lol. Just speaking out of my own experience. Had a similar issue where my line wasnt valid on Telkom's system yet and Afrihost couldnt move the line. :)

Going through the same painful exercise at the moment. My problem with Afrihost is that they are misrepresenting what they are selling on there website! When you carefully read the front page (including the small print) of their Capped Bundled offerings they are selling an "Instantly Activated" bundle, which from my point of view includes the line. They should tell one upfront that this depends on an active dsl line that is supplied by Telkom. Needless to say, 7 days later I am still without an internet connection at home and the support I getting from Afrihost are appalling!
