This year alone there have been numorous accounts for the afrihost APN going down for mobile data. Sometimes for a brief period and sometimes for days at a time.
It's very frustrating when you rely on your phone everyday for mobile data, google maps, emails and hotspots. The worst part about it is that there is no way to know until you have left wifi. Many times it's been the case where I leave home replying on google maps only to realise that the apn is down.
One way around it is to buy data on MTN and switch the their apn, problem is you need mobile data to buy data so it's a bit of a catch 22. Added to this are the extra costs of always having to buy data on MTN, while you have all the useless paid for data sitting on the afrihost network.
Over two years now and this problem still persists.
Why can t afrihost get this right. Is it still worth using them for a sim card and first line of connect to the cellular networks, surly at this point it makes sense to just go direct to MTN
