We operate in northern KZN and established number of site to site VPN using Meraki kit and Axxess MTN mobile data packages. Its cost effective and generally reliable enough for avg workloads. Over the past few months we have noticed decline in signal quality, internet reliability and increase in latency across some of the rural sites. More recently, in the town of Mtubatuba and peri-urban sites like KwaMsane has seen connectivity degrade significantly causing vpn traffic to fail. Manipulating the MTU to lower than 1426 does provide some improvement but this not ideal.
My question - have there been any recent changes on MTN network that would negatively impact LTE/4G routers or VARS like Axxess that sell LTE solutions. Is Axxess APN degraded as it deals with congestion or contention. I saw an article about algorithmic changes on MTN network, I think they trying to promote 5G but what about areas where we only have LTE/4G - how is this algorithm affecting these connections - My experience suggests we are affected quite negatively.
