Afrihost auto upgrade...

After watching the tele I saw that Mweb were offering an uncapped 1024 kbps line for R199. About what I thought I was paying for my 512 line at Afrihost. I decided it might be time to move over. So I logged onto my client zone to see if Afrihost were making some adjustment (as they always seem to do) and I see I have already automatically been upgraded to a 1024 kbps line.

In top of that my 15gig capped work line has been increased to 25gigs. Awesome service as always by the boys and girls at afrihost. Kudos.
 
Gonna get upsized from 5Gb to 10Gb.

I've said it somewhere before, and I'll say it again : if any company want to have a rabid fanbase (and a guaranteed source of income), they have to give their customers all sorts of sweet deals :)

Not rape them.
 
512 line was upgraded last year already. Was done by Telkom, not Afrihost.

Yes, although I could have had 1024 it would have cost more. Now it costs the same as i was paying for 512 but I get double the speed.

I agree to an extent. But the "uncapped" I pay for is not really uncapped as they do slow you down after you hit around 40 Gigs (guestimate) in the week days before 7pm. But yes I couldn't imagine having to survive on 25 gigs or less at home. I play online games, download movies, watch a lot of youtube etc. I manage that at work very easily though.
 
I don't either know how we survive on a capped product.

When Axxess brought out their 1Gb prepaid deals, I was one of the first who made use of that. We managed to make do with 1Gb @ month.

When Afrihost released their 3Gb @ R89 I signed up, quick as a flash. Then we managed with 3Gb's.

Then I got two free 1Gb accounts from Afrihost, and we managed with 5Gb's then.

Now it's 12Gb's we got... Will have to see what happens...

Easy, we buy after hours uncapped accounts :p

I use the capped Afrihost account for during office hours, so when everyone else is crawling and crying I'm flying along on my 10mb capped account. Then between 7pm and 7am onto OW after hours uncapped which does all the heavy lifting...

I got 3 accounts with Afrihost for various lines, 50gb upgraded to 60gb, 10gb upgraded to 15gb, 3gb upgraded to 6gb. Nice to get something for nothing these days when everywhere else we turn we getting royally screw ed...

Heh :D

Nowadays most SP's will try to fleece the last buck from their customers. But they haven't considered Afrihost's business model - if they do, then they're guaranteed of a steady income.

But no, it's easier to rape the customer than to think out innovative new products etc.
