Hi

Sent an email to support@afrihost, more that an hour ago. Still not response, not even a ticket number.

And the landline number queue is 25 people long!

Anybody out there?

Both, and I finally got a response back. It is totally unbelieveable. This is my email I wrote (edited for privacy):

As discussed, please see attached speedtest and tracert results. Please
have a look at the line speed and very high ping times. I am trying to
install software packages and it is going to take more than 4 hours to
download just one of them (Visio - directly from Microsoft).

My account name is afh@***.*** and I am connecting from the 2 mbps ADSL
line connected to tel no 012 665 ****

This is the response I got back:

Thank you for your mail -:)

Please see the following from what i am seeing on the system

ADSL: up to 2 Mbps -- 0112349928 - Cancelled

This above means that the line is not with us and you need to contact Telkom for your line speeds.

The 011-234 number is from almost five years ago, when I still lived in Rivonia. I now live in Highveld, with a new number. Ticket number is #YAM-600-45529, go and read it. Do you guys even read what is said in the tickets we send you?

Really this is redicilous.

So, I am still trying to get this resolved.

  • No repsponse to ticket yet (After I reminded them to use the correct number)
  • Online chat has no operators available
  • Call me is not available (Although last time I checked 12:00 of a Friday was between 08:00 and 19:00 on a weekday. Taking and early weekend?)
  • Queue for the landline number is 20 long. Yesterday that resulted in a 25 min wait time.

This is starting remind me of another Telco some years ago...

I'm sorry about the poor quality of the response you got here. I think the best route is to send this through to our Quality Assurance department and they will make sure that the lapse in service is addressed :(
