Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback - 2

Ok, but the post above is with a different ISP account...
Latency shouldn't be that high though, right?

The latency on the other provider does seem lower though, where the latency with us is higher on our network. Could be due to the demand - best to keep running tests.

I honestly can't believe I'm paying R700 for this level of service. It's absolutely horrible. I had to use it for business today and was getting pathetic speeds, under 1megabit. I'm so so sick of this crap, protocal prioritisation, whatever the hell you want to call it, I needed an autodesk product and it took an hour and a half before the download eventually failed. Seems I'll be putting my cancellation in, because this is useless. I can't stand up for Afrihost anymore, I understand why they were getting blasted on Carbonite now. I've tried being patient and understanding, but this is just bull****. I understand shaping P2P and even video streaming, but I literally needed this for business today and it has totally and completely failed.

Connection is so bad that I can't even open Google and has been like this almost the whole day...

I would love to do more tests to give to your tech guys, but when your network sucks so badly that I can't do anything at all on the internet to get guest accounts set up to check other networks, etc.....

But it's fine, you have already taken my money for this month and provided me with a totally crap service that is barely usable. Nice one, much appreciated.

Posting this from my phone as your network is dead.

I'm sincerely sorry about the slow speeds, I know things haven't been great - and demand has been quite high today too :(
Upgrades are imminent, I'm certain things will improve soon!

Are you able to connect with your backup ISP account?
Last I checked you have a line issue.

Bad day too

I do not have a backup account, that is what I have been trying to set up, but alas.....

And there is no line issue anymore, confirmed by a Telkom tech who was here this morning (I posted details of it ealier). It is your network.

:(
Not looking pretty, is the latency the same on the Telkom guest account? Looks like the response on your exchange is a bit iffy here.

Our network isn't down though, so you should be able to connect.
Please paste a traceroute here and connect with the Telkom guest account for some comparison results, details as follows:

Dear Afrihost - just an advance warning from my end and if your network goes down, it will be all my fault as this weekend is going to be hectic:
- My kid is on midterm break and all his buddies will plug their laptops into my network and there will be heavy Steam downloads, Windows updates and online gaming happening (this will affect you until Monday night)
- Since you did not allow me to download Yosemite during work hours, this will now be scheduled for tonight/tomorrow and then obviously all the other Mac updates.
- 7 kids from the estate are also coming through to patch their tablets and laptops
- In addition to all those Windows updates, most iOS devices will download iOS8 updates
- The wife has threatened extended Netflix sessions of chick-flix

Oh - and while all the above is going down, I will attempt to level my Destiny character or kill hordes in Diablo - I hope you are okay with all of the above?

I'm not expecting any network downtime this weekend :)

Afrihost FFS !!!!! How do you explain this. This is utter BS !!!!!

Good to know, as my 10Mbps line has never looked that great (just got disconnected twice from Destiny)

I am not even going to attempt try anything else for tonight. I let the other 3 people on your network first finish their downloads.

0.68Mb/s download and 0.23Mb/s upload to PSN tonight. Man, that is ****ty.

Sorry - that's me - I placed fair warning in this thread and I feel it is now my turn to use all of the bandwidth - muahahahahahaha

Dude stop it, I am trying to download a couple of megs worth of nuget packages.

EDIT: It's about 40mb, been waiting a good 10 mins already.

EDIT2: I will let you know when I am done, then you can have another turn at using the bandwidth

Well I guess theres no need for me to ar$e around on the telkom guest account ....

I think I have an idea of where my problem is from the posts above..... oh, and send my regards to Afrigenie.
