ClientZone not working again... can't recreate port, or tweak line.

@AfriGuy/Man/Girl can someone have my port reset.... seem to be a lot of errors on my line - might account for the poor speeds all round?

Hey, I am willing to try anything right now - PORT RECREATE PLEEEEAAAASSSSEEE ????

"South ADSL Network Demand"

"2014-09-03 05:14 PM There has been a increase in bandwidth demand in the Southern region (Cape Town and surrounding areas), particularly between 19h00 and 23h00. ADSL clients in this region may experience reduced download speeds during this period.

Our team is working to manage the increased demand to deliver the best possible internet experience in the affected region.

We sincerely apologise to all clients who have been affected and assure them that we will continue to work towards improving their experience."

Sigh. First of all what is it about the South that it keeps breaking? I swear it breaks once a month. At the start of the year (from jan to april) I actually kept score of North vs South breaks. It was 3 breakdowns in the South and 1 in the North and then I forgot to keep doing it . My point is the same though, why does the South consistently have more issues than the North?

Secondly, at what point does high demand become standard demand?

This demand issue in the south doesn't seem to be affecting me. My latency is good as usual, and download speeds are as fast I could expect (800+KB/s on 8Mbit). BBC iPlayer and Youtube are streaming fine.

Did you test during peak time? That's when they say it's being bad. I know from playing payday 2 with a friend last night things got a bit sketchy during that time.

Speedtest gives me full line speed. NNTP traffic completely blocked (30Bps).

No shaping my ass.

I really wish Afrihost would be honest...

When I eventually forced a restart and got SAB running again my NZB's were limited to 10mb (on a 20mb line).

It is as plain as day that something is going on. Just tell us already...

When is 'peak' time though? It's a business account and is geared for daytime performance, so I would expect it to perform best then. Is peak 6-8pm? I haven't explicitly run tests during that time, but I'd know very quickly if there were issues. BBC iPlayer is usually in use around that time, two people are usually gaming online and I tend to watch Youtube sporadically throughout the day. I'd notice degraded performance as Youtube streams 720p. I got some P2P stuff downloading last night around midnight and within minutes the total speed was around 750KB/s.

Again getting 1m speeds on my 10m account and again WA has no problems running full line speed. This is starting to really annoy me.

Afrifail.....

WHY ARE BUSINESS ACCOUNT CUSTOMERS SHAPED/THROTTLED/WHATEVER if you claim that we are guaranteed full line speed and will never be throttled/shaped??

Change your claims on your website as this is clearly false advertising.

We pay a premium price for a supposed premium priduct, yet we sit with crap.
Give us what we pay for, case closed.

Everything limited to 2.5Mb here... 10Mb line.

Very unstable too :(

Getting very tired of this.... If you want to give me 25% of my speed on an Uncapped Unshaped account, then I should be able to pay 25% of the price - isnt that so? Can I now pay you R325-00 for this month, AH????

Seems this is the new AH/Axxess since being bought by MTN - what a crock!
Very soon, like Axxess, Afrihost is going to change its T&C's for the Business Accounts... yet another tactic to push everyone to capped accounts (which fair no better at the moment). We are heading back into the dark ages of ADSL in this country, where ALL accounts are shaped to hell!

I would like to know what is the total IPC capacity Afrihost currently has access to at each site?
From what I understand MTN has x amount and Afrihost leases a portion of the capacity.
Also what are the current usages patterns at each IPC in percentages. I am mainly interested in the Durban IPC.....

Still getting 1m speeds on international. Local is fine. AH please explain why my business account is being shaped/throttled?

It is not. You just have a fundamental flaw in your understanding of "contention".

Afriman, Is it possible for a ISP to cause desynchronization or is that purely a line fault?

Torrents being shaped.
Line losing sync and disconnecting NNTP....
Speeds being limited even on SFTP/SSH...
Ticket STILL open and not responded to in a week!

ALL other ISP accounts flying from the same location - DEFINITELY an AH issue, and NOT a line/Telkom fault.

I want this fixed... can't run a BUSINESS like this - never know when I can work, or if I have to reset just to be able to browse uninterrupted for more than 10 minutes at a time. :wtf:

Move to another ISP. Really, it's not that difficult if your business depends on something that your current provider cannot do.

Considering the competition in the ISP industry, you only have yourself to blame for not leaving AH much sooner. It's weird that your internet is bombing out so hard, but it is what it is. Just move on to the next ISP if things are so bad.
