Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

Just remember that Afrihost Business is a bit crappy when it comes to Hulu/Netflix streaming for some unknown reason compared to other Business accounts :( It's the only bad thing about them. For NZB or other types of access they cannot be beaten.

Shouldn't be the case, we've got lots of clients who report really good results from these accounts.
I think it's got a lot to do with the setup, always tough when having to bypass a few things :(

Setup on mine is perfect, from various devices from AppleTV to Roku to PS3/4.

On other accounts it works in SuperHD with 5.1, AH I cant get it.

I'm sure these clients are referring to SD streaming. It's the same problem with Twitch not being able to stream in HD on business uncapped while working well on your capped accounts, so the problem is well known. So still no sign of a solution then?

Wait, are you unable to stream high/source on twitch with the business account?
I tested it with the capped and it worked wonderfully, and was assured the two accounts would run the same, its the whole reason I plan on signing up for AH Business is for Twitch.

That's exactly the problem I and others have with Twitch streaming. On my free Afrihost 1GB account, the streaming on high works fine and through my resource monitor I can see the connection maintaining a stable 200KBps throughput and so there is no buffering. With my business uncapped however, it buffers every few seconds and resource monitor reports that the maximum throughput is about half that of the capped account.

Numerous times I've brought it to Afripeople's attention but they just don't seem to know what's causing it. Save yourself the headache and rather stick to your capped account if you rely on HD streaming from Twitch/Hulu/Netflix.

Odd. Both accounts are definitely unshaped.
Has this been brought up with our team previously? If so I'd like to have things escalated and re-looked.

This has been brought up with your team previously, to you also, and you stated that it's probably a problem with my account not authenticating as a business uncapped account. When the authentication issues went away, Afriman stated that the issue isn't with your network and that the issue lies with Twitch. So that leaves me with no resolution to this.

Feel free to escalate it, I'd love for a solution to be found.

Thanks for the info, can you try the method mentioned in this thread?

I'm using it right now on my OW account because even though its stutters and lags on the site it runs smooth via this method.

If you're able to try it, let me know. Other wise no worries.

Maybe this has something to do with a 10mb AH business account costing R997, while on the other side of the fence, a 10mb uncapped home account (shaped between 8am-5pm) from Plugg costs R1195?

I alway's thought these business prices were too good to be true.

By the way, the Plugg account streams Twitch in HQ and NF in superHQ, after 5pm no problem like clockwork ;)

EDIT: What I'm saying is with those prices, surely there must be some "give" somewhere?

Some Twitch streams have been known to be very bandwidth hungry, not sure what caching/ CDN is being implemented from there side.
Have you tried this? http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/127705-how-to-fix-twitchtv-lag/

That's kinda uncool. Zertop is a client, just like anyone else in the forum, but he just happens to want to help other clients who run into problems - which I think makes him pretty awesome.
I don't think he's helping by issuing overly impressive reports about accounts he doesn't own. I'm happy for him to assist if he's honest.

Yes, I tried that with Afriman previously and the result was the same, works with the capped, fails with the business uncapped.

Well I'm stuck with OW until the end of June, so i guess I'll check back about twitch streaming then.

Yes, it was raised in the past and I was told hulu is not supported in SA so you cannot help.

Hey Afrihost members

I would like to get some feedback regarding the Afrihost Business Uncapped.

Is it really unshaped, unmetered as their website advertise?

Will be jumping the gun on Telkom soon and looking for a new uncapped ISP.

Hope you guys can help a stranger out!

Kind regards

Yes it is. Nuff said.

It is my experience that it is all as advertised.
I'm on a 2Mbps data profile using a 4Mbps line.

I don't stream Hula, Twitch, etc, but do watch YouTube clips.

I game a lot via PS3/PS4 and have no issues, although I don't play any FPS games atm.

I don't have any issues with download speeds.
If I need to download faster than 2Mbps speeds, I fire up my capped accounts and run at 4Mbps line speed.

I 2nd that... if there are no IPC issues, that is.

If the IPC is all hunky dory, then this AH Business Account is the best thing since... well... since... grilled cheese!

Full speed 24/7 - just the way the internet was meant to be (hmm... I seem to have heard that before somewhere).

Chalk and cheese.

I have no regrets, now, signing up.

I agree, one shouldn't comment on something going on "the vibe" of a thread and should be based on personal experience (sorry ZT :()
