Afrihost Business Uncapped Feedback

It is my experience that it is all as advertised.
I'm on a 2Mbps data profile using a 4Mbps line.

I don't stream Hula, Twitch, etc, but do watch YouTube clips.

I game a lot via PS3/PS4 and have no issues, although I don't play any FPS games atm.

I don't have any issues with download speeds.
If I need to download faster than 2Mbps speeds, I fire up my capped accounts and run at 4Mbps line speed.

and this is the crux :(

It seems these accounts are cool if you're a downloader, but don't expect top quality with hulu/nf/twitch, as they say it's not supported, even tho "other" ISP's seem to manage fine :(.

Then there's the fact that capped works normal, but business not so much and yet they supposed to be from the same pool :wtf:

I 2nd that... if there are no IPC issues, that is.

If the IPC is all hunky dory, then this AH Business Account is the best thing since... well... since... grilled cheese!

Full speed 24/7 - just the way the internet was meant to be (hmm... I seem to have heard that before somewhere).

Chalk and cheese.

I have no regrets, now, signing up.

I can assume you also don't flix/twitch?

Twitch is fine NOW on my 2mbs on medium... and nope, I do not flix.
Twitch stopped working since Feb until the IPC thing came online April... and it is OK since then.

Does klipdrifter Twitch and flix?
I do not recall seeing a mention of these in his feedback request.

Perhaps fit the package to the need?

For me (no flix, no hulu) it does everything else at full line speed 24/7 - for me.

EDIT: One can always sign up, use it and test, and cancel if it is poo before the 25th of the month and move on if it does not cut the mustard without the whole calendar month notice shpieel.

I have given AH flack in the past during their IPC wobbly, but now it is performing as required.

Hi

Well I did not expect any replies this time of the night but very thankful!

I do Twitch sometimes. Does a 2mb uncapped account do Twitch on medium?

Kind regards

I'm just trying to establish that these accounts are suited to DL'ing and not "replacing DSTV" :)
Which is what I like about them, and my philosophy/strategy about ISP's, try it yourself, and draw your own conclusions :)

No probs wingnut771, you raised a very valid point. I needed a reliable business account, and THIS is it, but with benefits!

Others might not get what they need from it.

Having to chop and change ISPs can be an expensive affair when there are 30 calender days overlaps between ISPs and such.

EDIT: I cannot comment on the "DSTV replacement" suitability thereof.

Ye, I don't do 30 day ISP's, so 20th century :D

What are your usage patterns (when you use the internet and how?) and amount of data moved in a month?

I've actually cancelled mine as they never have anything new and would rather get the latest and greatest, but like the idea tho :)

Going to bed soon soon! Please respond in the next 10 mins, so you can try an account I have lying around ;)

EDIT: i.got~issues will vouch for it :D

It varies... moderate really for a 2Mbs line... around 120GB to 160GB a month.

Mostly used for business from 8 until 5... Dropbox, Skype, FTP, Citrix and email stuff etc etc... but downloads afterhours, torrents, TuneIn streaming and, oh my lawd, the kids can YouTube and Steam / Origin / iPad updates etc. etc.

With OpenWeb it was a fight to do anything simultaneously. Either YouTube or browse and such. 240p was the norm... and 9-5 was a dead zone on their Gold "Original" for the same price as this AH account.

Now, the kids are YouTubing at the same time at 360p... and I can browse etc.

I have just done a Twitch test... while downloading... and it was buffer free on medium. I did a screen recording that I can put up somewhere if anyone is interested.

I, in my limited 2Mbs realm, could not imagine that the internet could just work like this, all day, and all night, Afrihost IPC issues withstanding, naturally.

:D lol! With you there buddy, but in my old age, I'm finding myself not willing to "settle" ;)

Crumbs ... do not go gentle into that good night!

If it is the account I think it is, then yes... keep the downloads for afterhours, the star rating is thus respected and it is then very good value for R99 a month!
