Rebooted for 12th time and still no connection...

Please go klap some Telkom/MTN techs?

Edited to add: 13th time rebooting and there is now a connection.
Please sort this crap out? It is not fun rebooting 11 billion times to get a line after a connection is dropped, it is not what I am paying 1K a month for.

Sorry to hear it all went south again, just when we thought we had his sorted.

Please drop me a PM and let's see what we're showing on our side :(

6-30ish PM, connection goes dead. Again.
I rebooted the router at least 8 times to try get a connection. Again. Finally got a connection again just before 7pm.
Now everything is so damn slow, I am switching my PC off and going to bed early for a change.

I cannot understand this issue. Speedtest results are always 5Mb and above, yet Youtube buffering is slowly making me lose my mind. I thinks there is some intermittent issue like a damaged line, exchange ghosts that don't like me or Hellscum and MTN needs a swift kick up the backside.....

Afriman, I'll send a PM tomorrow sometime. But this issue needs to be resolved ASAP.
Other than this extremely irritating issue, I am more than happy with the service. I just hate when I have to reboot so many times to get a connection. And it is not any particular time of the day either, it it completely random.

We'll run tests to see what the issue is. I'm sure we'll figure it out :)

I lost over 2Gb from one of my accounts last week when I wasn't connected to the account. Been sending pm's to Afriguy and after being told it was sorted out (which it wasn't) it seems he is now ignoring my pm's. The account in question is now capped and my other account is about to be capped also so this is now urgent.

Sorry for that. Could you send me a PM and I'll follow up for you.

I bitched here, although I don't need it, I got 1.8GB back! :-)

My free gig was also used this month by someone. Not too worried, but it is a handy backup when international on my uncapped is down.

Okay I'm seeing the same problem. Significant blips on the 18th and 20th July, which I can't account for.
According to the system, I uploaded 0.47GB in an hour on one of the days. So doing the math, my upload rate was 136KBps.
The theoritical max upload speed on my line is 512kbps i.e.: 64KBps. Ain't adding up. I uploaded at twice the maximum line rate???
Also seeing usage on both "Normal" bundle as well as the promo "Double Data".
Need the problems sorted out please AfriHost.

PM'd AfriMan.

Perhaps changing the default password (received on registration) could help? If it does, then insider theft is proved.

It helps but Afriman has said there was a problem with Client Zone over the weekend and please PM him..........

There was an issue over the weekend, we saw incorrectly allocated bandwidth - but this should all be sorted out (as of Monday me thinks)

steel_dog: Let me know if this has been sorted?

How long is it supposed to take to get a connection when a router is powered up or rebooted?

@Bursty-dude

Dude - it really sounds like you have a line fault where it is constantly disconnecting and it is really confusing the system. Maybe log a fault with 10210? If your line is with them then maybe this is a lesson to be learned why you should keep your line with Telkom so that you have control if something goes wrong. You know the saying: "you want something done right, do it yourself"

Can you post your line stats like SNR and Attenuation?

Apologies if you have already done this.

I have not timed it with a stop watch (my guesstimate might be wrong) but it seems like ages when I am waiting for it to cum up although I would say 60 seconds, or a minute which ever is shorter ......... The various lights flash on and off and on again and when it is relatively stable it is up. The "internet" light is the one to wait for.Although yours might be labeled differently.

It can vary according to all sorts of factors, your local exchange, load on the closest BRAS (Telkom's IP allocation units) and how long it takes for us to receive the authentication request. A minute isn't too long to wait, I would imagine. Five minutes or more points to some kind of issue, possibly on the line if the SNR or ATT is not what it should be so multiple requests are being sent before they go through.

Just a query, how long do your trial accounts last?

PM'd AfriMan.
Hey all,
Want to send out kudo's to AfriMan and the AfriHost team re the Bandwidth Use issue.
They were responsive, clear, and sorted out the issue for me without my prompting any action. Great support.
Thanks AfriMan!

SD.
