Looking much better! Which area are you in?
Beacon Bay, East London.
So all the way to Cape Town (+- 1,000km) then to Joburg (another 1,400km) ... at least that is what I can make of the trace route.

This is strange indeed, perhaps the routing is getting a little confusedHave you ever noticed this issue before?
Please drop me a PM, I'd like to check things out here for you.
Hmmm... performance still erratic.
Speeds very inconsistent. Not getting anywhere close to my usual line speed of 8mbps.

For reference: Area is Century City, Cape Town.
Line sync: 10mbps.
Wasn't the news I wanted to hearThis looks to be exchange relatedThe latency on the 2nd hop (your exchange) is too high which would affect the rest of your throughput.
Could you run another one from this morning to see if the issue still persists?
Low Impact

Our Network Engineers are noticing increased latency on our DSL network. We are currently investigating this and do not currently have an official report on the cause. This may affect real time services which depend on low latency such as gaming. At present we believe that general DSL service will still remain close to normal levels. We will post more information as our investigation progresses.
Wasn't the news I wanted to hear...
but will do and let you know early this evening.

EDIT: Found this on Afrihost Network Status. Could it be related?
Probably not related to the Network Status. Your second hop from the exchange would have been perfect, but latency would have shown up inside our network around our IPC breakout point.
While the demand issues caused some speed and latency issues - day to day Telkom issues would still also have been lurking around (as they do)![]()
PM sent. Still seeing issues. Line maxing out at 5mbps, and no issues apparent at hop 2 anymore. Latency is showing up later on at hop 8.

Could you please check into the above for me? I usually get about 8mbps on my 10mb line...
tia
I'm going to try a port-reset from your side...maybe things will be better...
REGARDING THIS POST...I DID A PORT-RESET, NOW EVERYTHING SEEMS 100%...![]()
