Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

My latency to the EU Diablo 3 server is still pretty bad as of last night - anything from 500ms to 2000ms. I've ruled out exchange congestion and the copper has been replaced from my line to the exchange recently.

Will check again and report tomorrow.
 
I did some torrent downloads this morning and the speeds were decent
for day time performance.Image 1.jpg

I cant watch a 360p video on a 10mb line without bufferring..I had better performance when I had a 384 line. Afrihost data is completely useless at the moment. This is ridiculous.

What is the process to cancel?
 
Epic fail, Youtube streaming is pitiful. Think my tether's been reached. I'm paying for service not vague promises of upgrades.
 
Packet loss at every hop on Afrihost.

And upgrades coming soon apparently..after the next billing run that is LOL. If i stay with AH another month i can see that I will end up paying for 2 ISPs..non working AH account and new ISP.
 
Yah I see the promised upgrades are scheduled for the 30th or something, conveniently after the 25th. Don't think I have the patience to endure this for another month...
 
I have not read this epic thread in its entirety - it would takes age on my pathetic Afrihost/MTN mobile connection. AH ADSL doesn't appear to be any good either. A work colleague living in Edenvale is also complaining about his AH ADSL.

So which ISP do you guys recommend for mobile as well as ADSL? Afrihost has most certainly fallen off my list...

I moved to web africa with 2 of my lines and moved 2 other lines to Vox, to see how they keep up.

Will post results.
 
I am not prepared to pay for a 10mbps line and have youtube buffer... Gaming is also a poor experience.

I have decided to do my bit for increasing the speed on the AH network, from next month I will be routing my traffic via another ISP. We all need to do our bit to make the experience better for other AH users.

Competition is good for the industry. That is why I decided to reward a competitor.
 
If everybody now goes to another ISP then I will stay with AH ;-)

But ja, I am doing a count down on those 10 days you are talking about Afriguy
 
@ AH - are Axxess performing the same upgrades as you are, or are the upgrades in the South going to affect their portion of the MTN network too, or just AH's?

We'll need to see more test results to be able to say what could be the cause. Also if you're in a region that still needs an upgrade, it will be difficult to diagnose before the new IPC in that region goes live :(
