Looking OK here. How are your speeds at the moment?

Hi everyone,

I recently moved from Mweb Uncapped (1mbs) to Afrihost Capped (2mbs). I also moved my line from Telkom to Afrihost as I have always been impressed with their offerings & pricing.

As luck may have it - my ADSL performance is now down the sh*tter. I am not sure if it is my line? My settings? Or anything else?

The issue I currently have is that pages don't load properly and often I have to refresh a couple of times before the page actually loads correctly or at all...very irritating. I would assume that the issue is on my side and most likely an incorrect setting somewhere...

I have used the settings from Afrihost with no luck, changed the DNS server to theirs according to the site (also didn't work)...

I have D-Link 2640U Router - never had issues with Mweb speeds / loading issues. I am really clueless when it comes to figuring these things out so I am throwing it out in the collective brain to help me resolve this :)

I am sorry if this is the wrong thread btw :?

Speeds are still hovering around the 5Mb mark whereas it used to be at or slightly above 10Mb when I first got ADSL in January.
Some issues popped up somewhere and the line was synced to 7Mb but I have not seen anything higher than 6Mb since April.

Afrihost, please take over the whole of Telkom or at least the ADSL side of things. Maybe then something might happen that my 10Mb comes back to where it belongs.

Sorry about that. We can only basically manage lines, our technical people aren't allowed to touch the lines. Apaprently in some other countries any ISP can work on the exchanges - but don't see that happening in SA anytime soon :(

Sorry to hear this, nothing worse than getting a really poor internet experience, especially just after changing over.

Drop me a PM, let's see where this is coming from :(

I am in the same position as Jack_ster. I moved from MWEB to Afrihost with a 2 meg line. I then upgraded from 2 to a 4 meg line with Telkom. I then moved my line over to Afrihost and bundled my capped account with the adsl line. Now suddenly I am downgraded to a 1 meg line. Nice. I've PM'd Afriguy and he would have fixed it but it would take 48 hours. That 48hrs expired yesterday afternoon already. Still not fixed.
I've forward it to Afriman as well. Hope they can fixed it before the weekend.

I've just replied to your PM around this, our specialised team are looking into this for you :(

My 1 meg line also has seemed slow over the last couple of weeks.

This is the speed test. The ping is atrocious. Even worse if you do an international test.

This is the line test. Not sure what it all means.

We'll do the best we can to give you the best possible speeds your line can handle :)

Performance is back to where it used to be this moning. Thanks to AfriGuy and everyone else involved. I am a happy chappy again. :)

I'm really glad to hear this. We've got a few kinks on the Uncapped side, but glad to hear Capped and Business are performing so well again today :)
