IPC south is still very "Spikey"
See pic below - line speed "reaches" 8.8 but not consistently... spikes up and down.
Telkom account shows flat line 8.8 why not AH??

PTA still experiencing high latency and slow speeds. It was fine early morning around 0:00 to 4:00am.

Morning Guys!

For how much of the weekend did you experience these drops in speeds and spikes in latency?

I had very poor streaming the entire weekend. 40Mbps line could hardly stream 480P

Still praying for my 40Mbps to actually happen.

Note: Was at a friends place Durbanville he has a 10mb/s and streaming was also very bad for about 15:00 - 18:00 Saturday.

Hi AfriGenie, as @Reaper84 stated, I also had very poor streaming performance during the entire weekend. At some points I had buffering on 360p on youtube. I could barely watch streams on twitch and other streaming services had equally poor performance.
I also seemed to get higher latency than usual.

I did a lot of speedtests and in most cases it showed I was running close to full speed, which is strange considering streaming was practically dead. I did notice however that the downstream speed would fluctuate heavily between 5Mbps and my normal 10Mbps.
I think the issue comes down to unstable downstream speeds.

Hmmm, that is worrisome. How is your performance at the moment?

I've also been experiencing terrible streaming performance. Speedtest shows line is running at close to full speed, but I can't even stream a 480p video on youtube on the iPad without buffering the whole time.

Nothing has changed aside from my latency that seems to have improved just a little.
I'm still get heavy buffering on all streaming sites and my download speed is still going crazy.

Here's a speedtest. Note the fluctuating graph. It's usually a linear line, this was actually one of the more stable tests.
Download speed tends to drop down to 5Mbps every few minutes then back up.

Would you mind running a traceroute to youtube.com, I would like to see if there is perhaps a routing issue that is resulting in increased latency at some point.

Any update? I was told via phone from a nice support guy who I actually like that it would have been done by 11:00 this morning.

Just watch out for billing issues when AH move you over to VDSL.

When I moved to 20Mb Telkom tried to bill me and now when I moved from 20 to 40 they tried it again. My line is with AH but still Telkom pull this crap. Now the fun time of logging a billing query with Telkom despite AH managing my line :(

If Telkom invoiced you at all for any ADSL / VDSL products that are supposed to be with Afrihost, you just need to send us a mail through our Support Channel, with the Telkom invoice attached and we will take care of it for you.

Awesome to hear. I just cannot go through another Telkom call centre again. Will log it this evening.

They are very fond of their "General Adjustments"

So that is what they are calling it these days! :P

Had the same "General Adjustment" when I moved to 40Mbit. When I queried it they said it was an "Upgrade fee." This is obviously bs and they did reimburse me for the amount.

Happy with the performance of my capped account for now. Speed and latency is great. (Eastern IPC)
