Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

Cancelled my Afrihost account, and will be signing up with Webafrica start of next month. Seems like the problems are just getting worse. I can't use Afrihost for gaming anymore (in fact, the Xbox One now has a new status icon when using Afrihost showing that it cannot be used for chat due to network issues), and now the network is going down on top of that. My main gripe was gaming though, and considering their supposed technical team cannot even replicate a clear problem on PC, the chances of them fixing the issues on Xbox LIVE is pretty much zero to none. It seems AH has no visibility on Cape Town problems, and until that changes (which it doesn't look like it ever will), I guess nothing is going to be fixed. No point waiting around, spending an extra R100+ a month on data with other ISPs, when there's far more capable providers out there.

CPT unusable. So over this. Been through two major south IPC issues over the last two years, I hope this isn't a third because I will finally be cancelling my remaining AH accounts. Been gradually switching off AH but this is pretty much the final incentive to completely rid ourselves of this useless ISP.

Edit:
Not even possible to run speedtest at the moment.

No idea what everyone is complaining about, There is no problem in Cape Town, Network Status is green and the status page shows no problems at all since a minor glitch on Feb 27th. :) They really do think we are all fools so lets just stick our heads back in the sand and be good little cash cows.

It's disgusting that they have not even acknowledged that their is an issue.

Here in Table View, near dead connection. Only site that loads slowly is mybroadband, the rest take over a minute if they even manage. Also trying to stream a video, failing to do so at 144p on a 10Mbps connection.

EDIT: Am trying to complete a speed test, within Cape Town: 44ms > 0.04Mbps, it is still trying after a minute.

EDIT: Swapped to webafrica and have full speed. Swapped to afrihost = dead.
According to listening to the message of your call center: line fault telkom. Absolute nonsense.
And your website: Everything is good. Change your bloody message if there is an issue.

They went from the best to the worst. 20mb vdsl and I can barely browse. They can't even tell me what the problem is. At this rate I'm going to have to change isp's and move my clients as well.

They went from the best to the worst.

The network problems started when they switched from IS to MTN as backbone provider.
The service levels started to decline when they sold the client base to MTN and became a subsidiary.

I doubt that anyone here would have willingly chosen MTN as their ISP.

I am just holding on now for someone to offer me FTTH in my area, without a R15,000 instillation fee, and then it's goodbye and good riddance to Telkom, Afrihost and MTN.

ping seems to range from 250-350ms, where it is normally around 30-40ms here in randburg, been like this the whole day. speed on the 4meg like is always way slow, below 1.5 :(

not a happy camper today.

Everything is snappy again (couldn't actually swap over from the other ISP due to authentication issues from Afrihost's side). Problem is, am only getting 2Mbps in speedtest (10Mbps line).

WTF IS GOING ON AGAIN!!!!
Seems like the only way to get attention is screaming why are we on dialup speeds today Afrihost?
Not my line or Telkom, my backup account works.

Been useless all day here in Pretoria too. At least Axxess (which I believe is pretty much the same company) acknowledges on their website that there is a problem.

We are receiving reports of slow speeds on our uncapped and capped services. We have escalated to our upstream provider who are currently investigating
.

I've switched to my free FNB account for now.

My backup account has been capped and this is what I get from AH on my 20mb line:

Gone are the days of AH being the backup account. Now it's the account that needs a backup.

I'm afraid 'reliable' is no longer a word I can use to describe AH. Every month something breaks down here in the south.

My Afrihost service was back to normal last night and the Axxess notification was updated to show that the problem had been solved. But it seems that there are still problems with their (and Afrihost's) service:

We are receiving renewed reports of slow speeds from uncapped and capped users. The issue has been reported to our Upstream Provider who are investigating.

But according to to Afrihost:

Our DSL Broadband network is running like a bomb! Everything is copacetic and we’re good to GO!

copacetic is probably an auto-correct spelling mistake, I think they meant to type apathetic :)

:/ half speed on a capped product? First time I've actually needed to download something in ages and its not coming down.
