but hey - tomorrow Afri(woteva) will come along with the "I/We am/are sorry" sop story and all is forgiven...NOT

Just like this...
Good Day

I trust that you are well, my apologies for the inconvenience caused, please kindly note that we did experience some slow access on our network earlier today, an issue which has since been resolved, please kindly note that I have reset your connection and request that you reboot your modem and attempt to connect again and advise if the issue persists.

Have a great day and please let me know if I can help with anything else!

Warm regards

Thulani

My biggest issue with AH has always been that they seem to have no proactive monitoring of their network, beyond what is reported to them or what MTN deigns to tell them. The PR here denies this but it is obvious. DNS server flaky? Clueless until enough people complain. Impaired throughput on one of the IPC regions? Nothing on the website status, and support mystified until enough people complain about it. Streaming services in the toilet? Can't be anything wrong until enough users have complained about it.

Any ISP worth it's salt should be telling us about these issues BEFORE we have to complain. As I said earlier, Saturday's outage was the last incentive needed to switch our remaining lines, so goodbye AH. I'm sure there will be the usual cheerful denial and spin in response to this but I'm utterly uninterested, sorry.

Hi AfriTeam

It is still a bit grim down south...

Slow since Friday and sporadically unusable.

Any ideas?

I switch to Telkom on Friday and am still on Telkom.
AH has become far too unreliable and is now relegated to backup account status untill I find an ISP that is both unshaped and reliable.

Morning Guys!

I'm sure you guys noticed the mishap on Saturday, basically two of the highly important servers that regulates the bandwidth management suffered an emergency shutdown, this caused all new sessions from about 04h40 on Saturday to be assigned to fallback bandwidth which caused the slow speeds for those new sessions. The issue was resolved in a few hours, but our system had to start working through all new active sessions, and disconnect them to ensure that the users were re-assigned to the correct bandwidth group. This happened again on Sunday evening, but this was resolved within a hour.

If you are still seeing slower than normal throughput, powering down your ADSL modem for 30 seconds, then powering it on again should get you running at full speed again.

Needless to say I am really sorry guys, this is definitely not a cool thing to have happen, and we're taking extremely thorough changes to make sure this does not happen again.

If you are still seeing performance that is not up to scratch please let me know!

Afri(person), Can I ask your assistance, my parents live far away from me so I can't assist them with this, their internet is down for a whole week now and they are to nice to complain I only discovered this now.

Can I pm you all there info and will you please look into this for me? I would really appreciate it.

Mishap? Resolved in a few hours? Rubbish. Your support didn't even acknowledge that there was a problem that rendered your network useless from 9am until late afternoon and neither did your network status page.

:(

We're following up with the appropriate Team Leaders as to why the guys on the Support Floor were not kept up to date. We've already changed the way we handle these types of issues, and we are going to be much more proactive with the way in which we keep you updated.
