Capped or uncapped, Business or home it seems the last 48 hours at AFRIHOST completely pear shaped.

Mine works fine hey. I know there was a problem with a Telkom satellite uplink yesterday.

I am able to connect with my Gamco, FNB and M-Web accounts however the free 1GB Afrihost account is giving invalid username/password constantly.

I copy pasted and manually entered the credentials from my client panel at-least five times to guarantee I am not using wrong details.

Strange

Very odd. Please drop me a PM and I'll take a look at this :(

I've tested Capped and Business and they seem to be working pretty well. Are you having a specific issue, or is this a general comment? :(

Im still getting these pings. When I run a tracert all is sub 200. But weneva I play online afrihost is the only isp im getting over 350. Have to switch to my capped Telkom acc to play.

This isn't ideal :( How are things looking this morning?
Could you drop me a PM with your line number please, I'd like to have a look at things for you.

Something seems to be buggered with international today.

Pinging bbc.co.uk gives me normal pings of 180-ish, but I grabbed an ftp file and got an average of just over 200KB/s (compared to 1MB/s yesterday). I noticed news.afrihost.co.za is also maxing out at ~180KB/s today.
Local is flying as usual.

Edit to the above:
It would seem that news.afrihost.co.za is being rate-limited? Mine's maxing out at 2Mb/s, and as soon as I switch to a paid server, my speed jumps to 800KB/s.

Could you post a traceroute up so we can see where the latency is being introduced?

We aren't seeing any general trends with our news server, do you have the full 5 connections setup?
And you aren't downloading anything older than 200 days?

Afrihost, please take over the whole of Telkom.
Tired of this disconnect crap. Connection died at around 9:40am and 5 reboots later and still no luck.

Edited to add: 6th time rebooting and now have a connection. I love Afrihost, Hellscum on the other hand...

Newish stuff, tried it with several items. Using 10 connections. My stuff this morning also went at < 2Mb/s. It's weird, because I'm not doing anything different to yesterday or the day before.

It's faster now though - 175KB/s at 5am, 8am was 220, now it's 260.

But the web based control panel for the router shows it is syncing at 7008kb/s:

Or am I missing something here?
Mine's running fine (10Mb).

What happens if you pull ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.za/debian/debian/ls-lR.gz , speed-wise? You should be getting around 700KB/s-ish.

Intl is definitely not running fine though. Not getting more than 4Mb now :/
(on files/browsing as well as speedtest)

400 - 480k/sec.

Can you connect to guest@telkomadsl / guest
and do a speedtest to capetown.spdtst.saix.net/‎
and post the results?

Your speeds are lacking, and the above would indicate whether it's your line or possibly AH.

Where do I find that?

At your router's internet credentials, type
username: guest@telkomadsl
password: guest

Only Telkom wholesale sites work then,
Go to : capetown.spdtst.saix.net/
It will show you a speedtest.

Let's see how things go today, drop me a line if you notice things slow down again.
