@Afriman - this all started last night around 8pm, why did it take so long to find out there was a problem?

I actually started to see considerable degradation quite a while before then. I was up late on Friday night, and had identical problems from about 03:00 Saturday morning. I wasn't online from about 07:00 until around 19:00, so I can't say whether things were better in the interim and then screwed up again, or if I was part of a smaller group of users affected earlier for some reason. But this definitely started long before Saturday evening for me.

Is everyone else still okay? Seeing intermittent problems again. Have to refresh this page two or three times before it loads -- times out the first couple of times, then loads quickly. I'm not certain this is the same problem (or extends further than me) though: I've noticed that whenever I have a torrent download going (with a rate at 30% or less of line speed), my HTTP traffic seems to get throttled into oblivion, while the torrent itself continues to download fine. I very rarely use torrents, so I don't know if this is new. If it is shaping-related, it's very frustrating: I pay for a business line specifically because most of my stuff comes in over a VPN, and I don't want to subvert shaping policy on a regular uncapped line. So Afrihost allow my big VPN traffic to continue at line speed with no side effects, while a couple of 80MB torrents destroy my connection.

Although, given the intermittent nature of the previous issue, I wonder if this is just coincidence and I'm drawing conclusions (re the torrents) when there are none to draw. Anyone experienced anything like this before?

I have been seeing that for almost a month, sometimes it is OK but usually there is a delay initially opening any page.
The strange thing is that whilst you are now seeing that symptom, I am not, everything is loading instantly for me today.

I have never used Torrents but as I did have the same symptoms you are seeing I think it is just coincidence that you are seeing it with torrents running.

You can use this site to test for shaping http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparency/glasnost.php but I doubt that you are shaped unless the Managment software has crashed again.

Thanks for the advice and confirmation. Glasnost indicates that I am not being shaped. I'll keep monitoring -- clearly some other gremlin.

Started at 14:00 briefly and then went total apeshiat from 16:30 onwards reaching a climax at 19:00.

I'm not sure it's purely a AH problem. Telkom have been having issues in the South for about a week now. I've been getting crazy loss like 50% and pings 2700ms. This happens on both my AH and Telkom accounts.

This specific issue is MTN

Since AF MTN mobile, AF, Axess Af mobile and Axes mobile experience the same issues for the same duration.

True that! Btw how is your internet my AF account is flying atm to be honest getting full line speed.

Like dead honest not once ever since this debacle started.

I'm seriously considering getting sushi. Way to lazy to make food now
