Afrihost and Axxess, high latency.
Also been struggling for days with there News Server, speed is all over the place down to 0KB/s thru put at times for long periods.
Tried a quick test with Telkom Guest account and there shows no latency.

Just played a cs with 150 ping. Oh the joys.

I'll keep it short and sweet;
Your network management is pathetic and so are your excuses. If I see "we finished pushing out some updates last night, we are already seeing improvements" one more time....

Even the premier of kzn is talking about Afriphobia.

Too soon?

Easy guys, move on :)

Youtube is still buggered on AH, Crystal Web account is fine!

Anyone having issues connecting to GTA V online? Well joining any other sessions?

Yes I can't access online as well on GTA 5 online, playing on a different ISP account working 100% though. Hope the Afripeeps fix this soon!

D3 cant connect to servers again, just checked again now so have to go back to web africa and another top up for them, im practicaly burning through money on WA cap because afrihost cant run anything anymore. I have sent OVER 20 tracerts either to the support and on this thread and I am one of the people having this issue for like 3 months now. I assume its time to jump ship and take every gamer I know using afrihost with me because beyond people messaging me "send another tracert" or "send me a tracert of web africa" I have sent piles of them from multiple ISP's but what has been the point? Like no offence to the guys in this thread trying to cover this with PR tactics but not once has it improved or been fixed or SEEN improvements every night usualy about 7~ without fail gaming is pointless on afrihost I cant play Dota/LoL/D3/Raid in WoW nothing even you tube runs terribly.

NNTP still very erratic on AH news server - spikes for a few minutes and then times out for hours... Any news?

P2P test - same story. Up, down, all over the show.

Sanity check on WebAfrica test account does not render similar speed problems.

As said before, even on capped I schedule any downloads to late night until 6am.

YET, if I would like to use my capped 'unshaped' account to download something outside of 'nightsurfer' time, it seems that I am now being penalised for some uncapped pimplenose's download fetish which AH cannot control.
Calling it 'contention' is understandable from a marketing perspective, but the right thing would be to add a disclaimer to the capped offering stating (in layman's terms) that ultimately, one could (and most likely will) still suffer when the entire network including all the abusers aren't under perfect control, which seems to be rarely possible...

We do expect that some services may not perform as well as expected while there is higher contention on the network due to demand. We are not controlling or setting (by rule or policy) which services perform better than others, but this what we have seen over the past weeks.

There is a note on the capped page which states that speeds can be affected by demand on the network, so we do want to be as open as possible about what clients can expect.

Hey guys,

Anyone experiencing "lag" on GTA 5 online, Like people teleporting around on my screen, but with another ISP account everything is 100% fine. Is there a by means any other way to fix the problem with my Afrihost account?

Regards!

We've been reading on GTA forums that the PC version is showing some bugs in online gameplay. We are still acquiring a copy of the game to test, as well as testing with several clients from the gaming industry to make sure that on our side traffic is given priority and has optimal routing.

Youtube completely down?

EDIT - Came back now, well sort of! Slow as can be with CrystalWeb running perfectly?!!

EDIT2 - And now seems to be back up to normal speeds. Ai this up and down crap is getting to me :(

I didn't test YouTube last night but I will do so tonight and over the weekend. The North should not have seen any latency, so realtime services should have been good.

We are having some problems with our NNTP service, and we are seeing P2P/NNTP struggle during peak demand in the South. The technical team are working on this, and are fully aware of what clients are experiencing from their posts here. We'll keep working on this to try to improve your experience until the demand is brought under control.

We are running tests with some clients from the gaming industry. We have also read reports online of bugs and unpredictable performance.

We've tested D3 extensively over the years, and we haven't changed any rules so we don't expect that it would perform differently now. It could be that you are affected by demand if you are in the South, as latency is high during peak periods in the evening. Otherwise we don't know of a general problem with D3. I am having one of our technical team who plays D3 test so we can verify that nothing has changed.

So latency is high, and expected to be so in the South and yet the North should have seen no latency?
Are you saying then that you have Run out of IPC in the South again?
Or do you just treat the South as second class customers and give us a much higher contention ratio than your Premium customers in Jhb?

Doubt Afrihost ever did IPC upgrades to start with as all the problems and issues are still exactly the same it was 6 months ago :p
